Thomas, The Zis-5 is an identical truck to the Autocar Model CA except for the windshield. I have photos of the Autocar if interested. In fact it was the Autocar that is in the photo of the truck I modeled this from. The crane is actually bigger in the prototype photo! And yes the Zis-5 and Autocar both were seen in a twin screw (6x4) configuration. The Russian truck that is a copy of the Ford Model AA is called a GAZ. The Roco Zis-5 model is now out of production but can be found occasionally on ebay. I understand Arsenal M makes one in resin.

Been sitting on the photos of the prototype of this truck for years and finally got around to building it. The base model is the Roco Zis-5 of course and the crane and bed are all scratch built. The really nice spoke wheels are from the Roco Henschel .

We have really good suppliers of detail parts available in both Truck Stop Models and Zycon Models. And some of the small resin casters like Dennis Aust and Ralph Ratcliffe are always expanding their "parts departments"

Congratulations on the birth of your son. Your life will surely take a turn now. And welcome back after such a long hiatus. The work so far on the Defender looks great. Chester

Man I would love to see those old photos. The last 1/1 real truck I restored was a 1949 Dodge pick up that was originally built for the U.S. Air Force as an airport support vehicle. It was on a 1/4 ton chassis with a six foot bed which was very unusual. The flathead six started right up after sitting for almost 30 years.

I really like the job Clare at Sylvan did on the 41,46.47 Chevy. Here I scratch built a pumper body for it out of styrene and Plano diamond plate. The wheels are from Jordan and the fender mounted siren and Indian tank are Ralph Ratcliffe castings.

Lovely styrene work Jeroen. Wish I could keep mine that clean looking.
