Marc, Please delete the Nissan cars from your list as GM will not give license for the 1/87 replicas due to the sharp point and small parts issues. Ricko Hello, Nissan has nothing to do with GM. The concern Nissan belongs to, is Renault-Nissan (with Samsung and Dacia). I think the only Japanese brand that belongs to GM is Isuzu at the moment. Additionally I think that the Mazda3 hatch (however, I would also buy the 3 sedan, because this is the only really good-looking compact sedan and you see it in Germany much more often than other compact sedans) and the Mazda6 (especially hatch and Wagon) have potential, too. But I have mentioned that already. The Herpa Mazda 323 F from the 90s still gets high prices on ebay, so it seems like its successor 3 could be successful, too.

The Toyota 2000 GT is a true classic and beautiful car for sure, it would fit perfectly into Ricko's program. I like it and will surely buy it.

I think the difference lies between Busch and Ricko. Busch (like Rietze) makes models that they can produce in many different versions like you have mentioned, and so Japanese models do not offer that many opportunities for them. However, Ricko does not intend to make so many different versions of one model, so they have a different situation, and here Japanese models, even nice sedans and wagons like a Mazda 6, can work as well as their Alfas or Chryslers.

Regarding the Chrysler 300 C, is popular because Chrysler did something that the old GM is still refusing to do: brought an everyday use rwd sedan to the market (GM's rwd sedan platforms are for the high-end market only); at the time of its announcement, the American press was caught by surprise. Sports sedans are also a big market as of now; so there you have it. Bill may say that is not so, but this is my observation: the Impala experimented a peak of sales when GM announced that a rwd platform would be developed for it (is near cousin, the Holden, is so constructed and is a sucess as a cop and even as a luxury car in several markets; the latter category is a sucess in such places as China; it seems to me that the Australians know better. The Cop version has the same specs as the Charger: low six for 0-60 and 150 mph total speed, while the Impala even as a cruiser is just pathetic); when that was denied, sales dive out, yet is a good seller for Chevrolet. These, of course, are my opinions. As of now,I am paying attention on future developments. To be seen. Hey, I don't think that these things influence a 1/87th scale success. The Chrysler 300C looks significant and interesting, that's why it sells good in our scale on both sides of the Atlantic. Cars that don't look that interesting will have problems I think...and that's the problem with a Camry, or a recent Chevrolet in Europe, because we don't get the real models here and they are not exciting enough to lust after for 1/87th scale. However, I think I would buy a Camry, but many Mazda's...or Lexus or whatever looks more fascinating.

Oh, and I think there are some older Honda's with potential, like the late 80s Civic 3-door, the early 90s Civic 3-door and Coupé and the CRX II. I think these would sell well, because I could imagine that there are quite some people who would like to "pimp" them like they do with the real ones, and so buy a bunch of them.

I think the best company to start with would be Mazda. They have recognisible models on both sides of the pond. Additionally most Mazda models are available in both sides of the world. 3, 5, 6, MX-5, RX-8, CX-7. Also add The Toyota RAV-4 and Yaris. Would also love to see the Lexus IS 250.
And who says Japanese cars are not popular in Europe? They just have a harder competition here :-) But I know that many people here (in Germany) would love to get Japanese models in 1/87. The difference between US and Europe is, that they sell more often smaller cars up to Mazda 6 size in Europe while the hotcakes in US are the large Sedans like the Toyota Camry, which is not available in Europe (at least in Germany) anymore.

Yeah and they're cheaper but also much simpler...almost no prints (lights etc.) and the alloys in all silver...

Hey BillC!
These are great news. The Dodge Caliber will be the first Dodge Model (out of the Viper) to be sold in Europe, and it's very cool that we get it as 1:87 model too. But why isn't it anounced on the Ricko homepage and other cars are although it will last longer until they come to the stores?

Hello Gary!
This is really very sad. But they did the Fabia and Superb, not the Octavia. The Octavia I is done by Igra, but that's another company.

The news about River Point Station are great. Seems that they are planning a lot of interesting models, which are only months away. Just looked at their homepage. Thanks for the News Bill.
Another thing: How about Ricko models of the new MG's, maybe MG would like to hand out models for their re-entry in the European and U.S. market :-)

Hey! There aren't any news about new shipping dates? Or new deals with brands? :-)
A Daihatsu Copen would be nice. It's such a cool cute car. A little roadster with a Hardtop like the MB SLK...
