My favorite model at this time is Busch's Mercedes-Benz SSKL. The lines are sharp and crisp. The fenders are almost a scale thickness. It looks like it could start up at any minute. The down side is the front suspension is made so the front wheels can steer and is way to thick.

A tricky thread to start... but one that is very likely to be sticky I have no absolute favourite, but I consider these three to be among the 'best of show' in my collection: 1) Mercedes 770 by Piftorak (Ukranian handbuilt) 2) Mercedes 300 SLR Mille Miglia by Metal87 3) Mercedes CLK-GTR by MGM/Trumpeter As for the Busch SSKL, I think the front suspension is a compromise between scale and functionality where functionality won this time... Once I'll be able to afford it I will probably find High Tech Model's Lola T70 (http://home.t-online.de/home/HighTechModell/87021.jpg) the best model ever. ;D

I would rather have had the scale!

The one that springs to my mind is a Herpa "High tech" edition of a Ferrari Testarossa that I have. It's amazing what amount of detail can be put into such a small space!

Too bad Herpa has given up on the High Tech line.

No, I haven't seen any, but I would like to. We have a lot of cars here in the UK that are imported from Japan (I know, I own two!), and it would be nice if these models would be more easily available. The good thing is that they are right-hand-drive like in the UK. I know that Mini Collection of Japan have made a Toyota Estima(Previa), so where can I get one?

Alan, the minicollection models are available from www.toyeast.com, but the Previa you want is not in stock at the moment. Be aware that these models are smaller then 1/87 though. Eric

Mark, Since you name the Herzog Sauber as one of your favourites, any chance you could supply some pictures of your model (assuming it is a painted version) we could put on www.87thScale.info ? Eric

Eric, unfortunately, the Herzog Sauber is NOT a painted version. A funny story, I was in Stuttgart in February, 1995 specifically to visit the Mercedes museum. I wanted to buy the Herzog Sauber which I had heard was on sale at the museum. Unfortunately, I was there on a Monday and the museum was closed. I never made it back and only found the model at a 1/87 Vehicle Club show in Chicago two years ago. I have been looking for a painted version ever since.

Mark, not what I would call a funny story, going to Stuttgart only to find out the museum is closed... As for the Sauber models, I am starting to wonder if there were any painted models made at all..... I have the unpainted version as well and am also looking for a painted one you see..... Eric

Speaking of Stuttgart and the Museum, they have the 1955 Mercedes 300 that Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson won the Mille Miglia in. I noticed that a model of this exists. I would love to have one!
