Dear Sirs: I commented on the new Superfast offerings from Matchbox. Below,a small list of some of the cars: 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood 1956 Ford F100 1961 Dodge Dart Phoenix 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 1970 Chevrolet el Camino SS Chevrolet Camaro SS Volkswagen Microbus concept Lincoln Navigator Dodge Viper GTS R Nissan Z TVR Tuscan S Porsche 911 Carrerra cabriolet. It is interesting to notice that something was written abou the TVR on another threads. To my view, this is a somehow unusual subject from Matchbox. I do not know much about the real car;I will ask input at the Questions thread. Other vehicles at this series includes the Chevrolet Avalanche pick up, Pontiac Vibe,Plymouth Barracuda. Other new item comes from Jada Toys: Ford Excursion SUV. So far, apparently, the only model of it was a 1/43 scale model from Anson, but I never saw it.It may be the case that the latter may be a very rare issue.Likewise, the only Navigator at this scale was done been done by Motormax first, and then by Jada Toys. Now is Matchbox's turn. The TVR is pictured below: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36511&item=6933546695&rd=1 A photo of the Superfast Lincoln Navigator: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36511&item=6933539185&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Dear Sirs: There are some of the 1/64 scale Norev cars (newer editions): Peugeot 307 WRC Citroen C2 WRC Audi A3 Citroen Berlingo Peugeot 307 Police Porsche 996 Turbo Peugeot 407 Citroen Xsara WRC Peugeot 206 WRC Porsche Cayenne Turbo Peugeot 407 SW As found at eBay;most are 2004 new releases. The site below shows their Cayenne: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=223&item=6933585750&rd=1 Probably is me,but the Norev site does not show the 1/64 models; yet, there are 2004 releases at this scale, the Porsche 996 Turbo and Cayenne being two of these.

Dear Sirs:
As an addition of American Police cars, the AMC Matador was also molded; I refered about it several times. Is one of this Chinese junky models, its emergency light is the round type as used in the 1950's and it was made by Summer Toys. No interior, the shape is a bit off,but the rear detail and front grille is quite accurate. It was avaliable for a very short while and then disappeared. It apperead again on sets, but the rear end was modified with unrealistic detail (Chrysler protested?). It will seldom appear at eBay.
Camaros and Mustangs police cruisers were done by particulary anyone else; a Mustang Convertible is avaliable by Motormax; Matchbox had several versions of both, specially the Camaro and Zee Toys had a black and white Camaro.
Unrealistic? Try this: 1977 Cadillac Brougham Sedan by Tomica as a Police Cruiser. If found at eBay,this particular piece command high prices.

Dear Sirs: Lindberg is a kit manufacturer that released the Mini-Lindy line of cars at the mid 1960's.These were a line of kits of 1/64 cars and the big majority were well done.Of course, the unrealistic thing about them is the fact that these were held togheter by screws. As a rail wagon in miniature, metal blocks were provided in order to give the vehicle the right weight.Another unique feature were the wheels:they resembled the ones from the real cars. Some of these are easy to find,as always will be the case;some others, like the Olds Vista Cruiser Wagon are not,and one may ask if the latter was ever done.1/64 vehicles included a 1960's Chevrolet Van (one of few models of it that I know),an MG,AMC Gremlin,Lincoln Continental,Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Vega,1930's Packard,Mercedes-Benz roadster,Volkswagen Bug and Kombi van,Jaguar XKE,circa 1972 Buick Roadmaster and above mentioned Olds Wagon (mentioned on listings, but I still looking for it). There is aseries of 1/87 and 1/100 scale compatible vehicles such as the GMC Scenicruiser. An update on the series by the 1990's included such cars as the Lamborghini Countach.A circa 1968 Chevrolet Camaro,Chevrolet Corvettes were offered as well. Not all cars look right, but fortunately, the big majority were well molded. The kits are relatively simple to assemble, and these are one of the vety few kits avaliable in this scale. Goes without saying that some of these are very scarce and if found at eBay, competition should be expected. Fact is,some of the 1970's cars I discovered at eBay and these do not appear on lists. The cars includes the Chevrolet Monte Carlo,Pontiac Gran Prix,Lincoln Mark III, Cadillac Eldorado. I knew the Buick Riviera (Impossible to find even at eBay),Chevrolet Vega (got that twenty years ago) and AMC Gremlin (got it last year; got lucky because last week one was sold at $35.00 at eBay). Also, being plastic kits, the details are all there and great attention were given to their wheels. I have a listing of these on a book and at this site (manufacturer listing) and these include one I did not saw yet: the Oldsmobile Vista cruiser wagon (the book I have has a question mark at it- was that done?) If that would be the late 1960's era, and find it.I would be happy. I saw it at eBay and thus learned of its existence: Lindberg's Cadillac Eldorado. It went away with a big price. The Gran Prix is also an impossible item to find. The detailing of these are similar to their 1/87 trucks and as always some are good, some are not. An interesting piece is their US Mail Stepvan; close to 1/87, and some call it a Studebaker while others say that may be a Jeep (Jeep built a stepvan in the late 1950's that were used by the Postal agencies; so did Studebaker). In all,the most disputed items from Mini Lindy are the following: Buick Riviera, AMC Gremlin,Lincoln Mark III,Chevrolet Monte Carlo and perhaps the Gran Prix. If the bidding is heavy, any of these will be sold between $15.00 to 35.00. Since their Eldorado is at the scarce range, that may be a target for heavy bidding. All the other show regulary, and fetch up to $10.00 or so. Photos of the miny-Lindys below: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4943&item=6933063269&rd=1cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4943&item=6933587225&rd=1

Dear Sirs: I been mentioning these for a while, but now here they are: Maisto's showcars. It is interesting to notice that these are models of a single prototype at most, and some of these are not even running vehicles. And,by all means,it applies to the case that there are more models than the real vehicles. Most are reproductions from modern - or latest - showcars. The list is given below: 110011 2001 Chevrolet Borrego 1100110 2001 Pontiac Rev 110015 2001 Hummer H2 SUT 110016 2001 GMC Terracross 110017 2001 Cadillac Vizon 110019 2001 Buick Bengal 11001aa 2000 Oldsmobile Profile 1100166 2000 GMC Terradyne 11001c4A Plymouth Pronto Spyder 11001cc Saturn CV1 11001d6 Dodge Concept Vehicle - the name Copperfield created problems for D-C. 11001d9 Pontiac Piranha 11001ee 2000 Buick La Crosse 11001ff Chevrolet SSR. This vehicle,as the new VW bug and the PT Cruisers, were concepts that ended up as production vehicles. Naturally, models which were launched before the rear car production, were described as concepts. 11001g1 Ford Mustang Mach III 11001hh Jeep Jeepster 11001jjA 2000 Chevrolet Traverse 1500111 Saab 9x 1500115 2002 GM autonomy 1500116 2002 GMC Terra4 1500117 2002 Pontiac Solstice. That made as a production car. 1500118 2002 Saturn Sky 150012 2002 Cadillac Cien. Another one which made as a production car. 150013 2002 Chevrolet Bel Air 150017 2001 Oldsmobile 04 1501rA Chrysler Atlantic This list is based on their site, www.maisto.com , at the Rapid Transit 3" thread. Is also interesting to notice that the Oldsmobiles never made as anything, since the brand is dead, but whio knows, some of the styling of these may have ended up at some other GM vehicles or re-named as another GM brand. Other curiosity is the Plymouth Pronto Spyder: it was based on the PT Cruiser, which as understand, was to be marketed as a Plymouth, but D-C killed the brand instead. The other brands, such as Matchbox and Mattel, also have models of concept vehicles, but by far, Maisto has the largest range of them and not only on 1/64. Incidentally, the Cadillac Vizon also reached production.

Dear Sirs: Latin American also have toy manufacturers. Argentina had Aguti,Buby and Galgo. Buby exists since at least late 1950's and production ended by the 1980's. It is interesting to notice that by the 1980's only Buby produced an 1/64 version of the Chevrolet Nova. Their array of models also include a series of Renaults (12 or 18, similar to the Brazilian Ford Corcel), a very interesting Opel Ambulance, Maserati, Chevrolet van Ford Bronco and the only Mustang II Fastback I knew in 1/64 by the 1980's,alongside with the not so good Zee Toys version. Playing Mantis and RC2,along with Mattel do offer Novas; the Mantis also replicated a Mustang II fastback recently. Trucks- Fiat,Chevrolet or Mercedes - were produced, but these are close to 1/100 scale. The list gets more interesting: Citroen, described as a 3 CV,Fiat 1500 (similar to the Matchbox one),1960 Ford Falcon (even as a racer),Peugeot 504.Mercedes 350 SL, 4-door Ford Sierra, and one of the few models of the Volkswagen Gacel (Fox) and a beautiful Bertone Trapeze show car (I have the Norev version) among others. This manufacturer also made buses in 1/64; Mercedes-Benz, with private operators liveries similar to the ones which run in Buenos Aires. A Dukes of Hazzard car was also molded ( based on their Mustang II) and A-Team van. Not bad of a lay-out; their models are on the reasonable range. They also had a 1/43 scale range and these are not cheap if found. On the past, few mail-order places had their wares; today,as anything else, these can be found on eBay. Scarce items from them will be the ones made at the early 1960's. MAR, in its September 2004 issue, had an interview with the founder of Buby, and it was stated that at the 1960's, everything was fine, but the company was in trouble by the 1970's because of Goverment rules and the fact that small companies - like his - did not receveid any kind of break. Also, he introduced suspension features and other novelties to his vehicles before the big manufacturers and quality was a fundamental issue with his wares. A comeback may be expected from him. It was also stated that since things were so bad during he 1970's and one everybody was breaking the rules in order to be business but him. All in all, their cars are nicely molded and the 1/43 scale are collectors items. Another thing that I learned this year is that the first models in 1/64 were in plastic, and,as Siku, due to the ever expanding presence of Matchbox, the models were converted to diecast. One of the plastic models that did not appeared as diecast is now very rare - the 1960 Plymouth Valiant. Below,a sample of their vehicles: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=223&item=6934299863&rd=1

Dear Sirs: I made a visit to Wal Mart today and had a pleasant surprise: the ERTL farm and construction equipment vehicles are back. Their bulldozers and other construction equipment have many, many moving parts but I did not saw any of these for a while now. Another surprise came from eBay: 2005 Ford and Dodge pick ups, also from ERTL. I am glad that RC2 gave this venerable brand a bit of freedom to develop its products. For pictures of the Ford pick up, see it below: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36502&item=6934144090&rd=1

Dear Sirs: Revell is quite known as a kit manufacturer. And quite often I hear about the 1/87 scale Chryslers that were done in 1961. Diecasts came along by the 1990's and their 1/64 range had an extensive range of NASCAR racers and next the low-riders were introduced, along 'normal' ride vehicles,as the Volkswagen bug. The cars included Impalas,Monte Carlos and other GM products. New releases include a Buick Regal, Monte Carlo and 1981 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Three manufacturers offered a 1947 Chevrolet fastback: Mattel,Jada Toys and Revell. The Revell version is the best one; the one from Jada Toys is in between (as always, details missing) and the Mattel version is decent as most of their 'real' cars. Perhaps their best model was the Ford Mustang from the movie 'Bulitt'. I have that, and I consider a spetacular model. Fact is, most of the modeling press always gave good reviews about Revell's diecast. As I hear about the how good the 1/87 scale Chryslers were, it not a surprise to hear the commentary about their diecast. Import models include a Honda Civic and a Volkswagen Bug. Some photos below: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=223&item=6934632770&rd=1cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=760&item=6934648309&rd=1cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7316&item=6934774216&rd=1

Dear Sirs: As discussed on the movie section: 1. The Back to the Future De Lorean. Molded by Playing Mantis/Johnny Lightning on their Hollywood series. 2. The Ghostbusters Ambulance has a more interesting history in miniature. The first one was a give-away witch came with a roll of Fuji Film; Chinese Brand, around 1991 or so. The second one was molded by Playing Mantis on their 'Frightning' series. 3. Go Speed Racer: the Mach 5 was also molded by Playing Mantis. Along with that, one can get the Racer X car and the fastest car ( so fast that one would get in another dimension if would drive it without a special medication). 4.Starsky and Hutch: Corgi Jr. First and it appeared as regular Torino from Mattel of Brazil; and of course, Playing Mantis in their Hollywood series. On the subject of movie cars, Corgi and Playing Mantis/Johnny Lightning modeled several cars that starred at movies and/or tv shows. Playing Mantis,James Bond series: Dr No's Sunbeam Convertible,1957 Chevrolet Convertible Goldfinger Aston Martin and Ford Mustang You only Live twice Toyota 2000 convertible. As it was stated before, there wasn't a Toyota 2000 convertible. This car was made for this movie. On Her Majesty's Secret Service Mercury Cougar The Man with the Golden Gun AMC Coupe The Spy who loved me Lotus Esprit. It is a normal car. Moonraker Hispano-Suiza For your eyes only Lotus Esprit Living Daylights Aston Martin Licence to Kill Jeep CJ2 Goldeneye BMW Convertible The World is not Enough BMW Convertible Wrong cars: 1974 Dodge Monaco Police car from Live and Let Die. It should be a Chevrolet Cruiser. No Dodges appeared at this movie 1995 Chevrolet Caprice 'villain car' from 'Tomorrow never dies' It should be an Opel Sedan. Chevrolet Ambulance from Living Daylights. It was a Chevrolet, but different year. Corgi had also a series of cars from James Bond movies. The Aston Martin, from Goldfinger. One presses a lever at the car's chassi and the roof opens and the seat goes up. I think that 1/64 figure came with that, too. The flying car from The Man with the Golden Gun. It is a generic vehicle with wings on it; on the movie, the car was an AMC Matador Coupe. The Lotus Esprit from The Spy who Loved Me. The car is molded in its 'submarine' shape. I do think that Corgi also molded the Aston Martin and Mercury Cougar from On Her Majesty Secret Service; Whizzwheels series. Corgi and Playing Mantis also did molded the Batmobile from the TV shows; ERTL and Hasbro offered the one from the movies. (ERTL: Batman and Batman 2; the others-3 and 4- were Hasbro Models). Playart also offered a Batmobile from the tv show. The Blue Brothers 1974 Dodge Monaco was originally offered by ERTL; and this is a very, very scarce item. Lucky me,then. Playing Mantis did also offered one and the circa 1990 Ford LTD Crown Victoria from Blue Brothers 2000. ERTL did offered a circa 1980's Maserati Quatroporte from, supposedly, the Rocky Movie series. The cars from TV shows are also well represented in 1/64. The cars from tv shows are few and between: Dragnet's Ford Fairlane by Playing Mantis, Dodge Charger, Cadillac Convertible from Dukes of Hazzard,ERTL; GMC pick-up from the Fall Guy,ERTL; Coyote Sports car from Hardcastle and McCormick,ERTL; The A-Team GMC van; ERTL and is now offered by RCE. Majorette had a set of vehicles that supposedly were used on Dallas (Jr et all) but I do not know if that was the right car. Likewise, the police cruiser for Dukes of Hazzard from ERTL is not right, either; it should be an AMC Matador, Monaco or Fury (yes,several-and beyond-were wrecked) not the 1980 Pontiac Bonneville which started life as the cruiser from Smokey and the Bandit II. It is true that when a show-or movie- are extremally popular, toy vehicles or models will follow. At times,is the right car,and on another times,is what the manufacturer has 'on house'. Hell, even Scooby-Doo's Mistery Machine was reproduced; RCE did the one from the movie, but, again, the model is not right. Two cars from the show Man from UNCLE were produced: the Oldsmobile sedan from Playart ( and when these appear on eBay,heavy bidding follows) and Corgi Jr's ( futuristic? well, there was a special car done for this show) sports coupe. That I saw it sell for over a US$ 100.00 on eBay; when I got mine,I got lucky.Generally, heavy bidding follows when this car shows up. I know that may be more, but up to now, that is everything I can remember. Jack promised to me,but he does not has the time right now: convert Yatming's Dodge Monaco to a T.J. Hooker cruiser or the blue that was driven by Hunter. (my painting is still not that good). Hm. Tv show cars.....who gonna have thought.................. Below, Playart's Oldsmobile from man of the UNCLE show: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=223&item=6935436437&rd=1 The tv show man from UNCLE also had a 'custom' car that was driven by the agents from the show. Corgi JR. molded it: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16481&item=6936038968&rd=1 Below,Corgi Jr's version of James Bond Spy who loved me Lotus Esprit: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=723&item=5933819122&rd=1 In the UK, Playing Mantis Johnny Lightning James Bond vehicles were sold as Corgis. Below, as assortment of these: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=56322&item=6935591338&rd=1 And finally, Corgi Jr's Batmobile from the tv show: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=757&item=6935890538&rd=1

Dear Sirs: I recently got Norev's Porsche Cayenne turbo and can say that this is an impressive model. By now I am hunting for their Peugeots and Citroens, specially the C2 pluriel; it looks really good on their diecast series. They also mold a Mercedes convertible and other Porsches besides their Peugeots and Citroens. I also won - did not received it yet - Matchbox Honda Element. I am also bidding at Tomica's version of it ( photos of the Hondas below; the Porsche Cayenne was already shown above). I finally finished the listing of the cars that were found at Jack's friend house. 1/64 models include: Playart Volvo 164, Cadillac Eldorado,Lamborghini Miura,Opel GT (that is a difficult one to find and at eBay always bring high bids), Mercury Station wagon,Volkswagen bug,Chevrolet Corvette and Caprice plus some more. Yat ming Opel Diplomat, Porsche Targa and Vw-Porsche 914, Dodge Coronet, Cadillac Brougham,Chevelle Malibu,Saab Sonnet. Zee Toys 1914 Vauxhall, Chevrolet Vega and Monza. And assorted models from Matchbox and Mattel,Including Hot Wheels Cord and Matchbox Mini Ha Ha (Hm). This finding was huge; Jack decided to keep - and modify some of these - and sell these (mostly back to me). The list on 1/87 vehicles will be given at the new purchases thread. Jack modified - and sold it to me - the Yat ming Dodge Coronet. He made a CHP car out of it; looks great (three were found; one I kept, one of these suffered the 'sugery' described above and the third one will be converted to a station wagon - like the one I had - and back to me,again). The list yeld 95 models; 23 in 1/64, 70 in 1/87 and the other 2 in 1/43 (a couple of Solidos - 1931 Cadillac and a Talbot). Pictures of the Hondas: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6936136134&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:ITcgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6935482012&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Dear Sirs:
I already received the good news: someone is molding a 1963 Lincoln Convertible in 1/87.
In 1/64, Matchbox had the 1964 hardtop in regular and superfast wheels. Other Lincoln included the 1988 Town Car.
Playing Mantis has the 1957 Lincoln Premiere and that is a very unique model. The Muscle Machine series has a current Lincoln Town Car Limo which is a fire vehicle (not that realistic,I admit but better than nothing). Lindberg released the Mark III;Tomica and Yat Ming went for the Mark IV; Matchbox released the only model of the Mark V;Maisto was responsable for the Mark VII and besides a custom plastic nodel, this is one of the few miniatures of it.Wikings Lincoln miniature was no made in 1/64 - at least I do not think so. Their SUV - the Navigator - is done by Motormax and Jada Toys.
