Dear Sirs: Insane bid,for an 1/64 model: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3597519313&category=1172 This model is from the early 1970's. The First Hot Wheels had a red circle at their tires up to 1977.As it happened with Matchbox, some of the 1977 models had-or did not-had the redlines; the ones which had the latter are extremally valuable because are scarce. Story goes that these first Hot Wheels were not made in large numbers and since these had so much play value, most of them finished their lives at sandboxes-permanently. Yet,I think the $300.00 is way too much for it. Another one in the scarce list is the 'US Mail van and the Volkswagen Van with a surfboard. Prices for the latter exceeded the US$ 5000 at times at the auction circuit.

Dear Sirs:
It is the case of the 'unknown' manufacturers that yeld interesting toys or models. This is the case of Fast Lane. On the Internet, this is a company that is asociated to Toys R US,but as of 2004,these are all Motormax vehicles with very live colors-as Matchbox from the Tyco times. The Manufacturer released a series of vehicle set (two per package) in 1999 and these,by then, were different than the Motormax offerings. Thing is,at that time,Motormax Red Box and was not releasing any new 1/64 models;it happened by 2001. Fast Lane products by 1999 were similar to anyone else, but they released the redesigned Jeep Gran Cherokee before Matchbox or Maisto. And there were the usual Camaros,Corvettes, school buses, boats and at the time one of the very few newer Chevrolet Caprice at this scale (the front end, however,is just a big blob),including a civilian model. These sets were avaliable at Toys R US until early 2002 or so and then that was that. However, their range are by far more extensive than 1/64 and that includes a bit of everything, including large remote controls (and I mean large ones) all kind of sets ( something like an array of thirty or so Zee Toys vehicles) and many, many more items.Toys R Us is the place where you find these, but I saw these,at times,at discount stores. After all, these are considered cheap toys. As of March,2004,their range of sets (two vehicles per package,as before) is back and the vehicles are all from Motormax.New is the Chrysler Crossfire (I hate the lively colors, though) and BMW Z4 and Z8 is avaliable as well.I also spotted a new van-I think is a Chevy, but the tailights are at the wrong position;at the middle of the vehicle instead of the top and this is avaliable with a multi-vehicle set, including some 1/87 tractor-trailers that were molded by Zee Toys eons ago.Interesting is-the only model of it I know by now-the Toyota Tacoma pick-up and the Ford Ranger is almost a unique model. Their other ranges are mostly toys;yet,an interesting vehicle may pop here or there. The Crossfire looks somehow right, considering that is a toy;just repaint it.So do the BMW's.

Dear Sirs:
Realtoy is a manufacturer that appeared in the 1990's and by now that have a nice range of vehicles, including a Ford Windstar van that is not offered by anyone;a Jaguar 'S' type and Ford Crown Victoria are molded as well and what I think it is an Opel Frontera.Their range of toys is large by now and new vehicles are coming. Some look like copies of Tomicas.Otherwise,it is another entry to the already crowded 1/64 market. By the 1990's,a good amount of Hong Kong based manufacturers were new to this scale;Realtoy is one of these.

Dear Sirs:
This is a supplement to the Chevrolet/Cheeta story: There are kits of this vehicle in 1/87 and models of that in 1/43rd; in 1/64,Playing Mantis/Johnny Lightning offered it,and as read on the reviews,is very well captured. I saw it several times, but never bothered to get it.Now I chaged my mind.
Other Chevrolet protos in 1/64 are the Aerovette by Yatming, the Mako Shark by Motormax, the Sting Ray III by Welly and the new Bel Air by Maisto. In 2004,the Chevrolet SS show car will debut.

Dear Sirs:
Another one from Maisto: Jeep Rescue Show car, introduced at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show. It resembles a bit of the Honda Element at its side. The show model is limited to 10000 and it cost $20.00 where I saw it.I just wonder...........................
Otherwise,it is a very deitaled piece.

Dear Sirs:
Norev is primaraly an 1/43 scale manufacturer. Its story has been discussed elsewhere and is quite known. The first vehicles were molded in plastic and later, the company switched to diecast. This company also ventured to other scales,1/64 being one of them. Their 1/64 cars were their 400 series, and the following was offered:
400 Citroen BX 401 Ligier JS2 402 Matra Bagheera 404 Citroen GS 405 Peugeot 504 406 Citroen CX 407 Renault 12 408 Citroen Dyane 409 Renault 4L 410 Mercedes-Benz Ambulance 411 Maserati Boomerang 412 Bertone Trapeze 413 Renault 30TS 414 Peugeot 604 415 Simca 1308GT/Talbot 1500SX 416 BMW 633CSI 417 FIAT 1315 418 Porsche Turbo 419 Renault 14 420 Peugeot 3055R 421 Simca/Talbot Horizon Plymouth Horizon 422 Renault 18GTS 423 Volvo 264 424 Ford Mustang 425 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 428 Citroen Visa 429 Volkswagen Golf 430 Alfa Romeo 6 431 Peugeot 505 432 Fiat Ritmo 437 Renault Fuego 438 Ford Escort 439 Talbot Solara 450 Renault 9 460-468 A series of Chevrolet trucks,but as the discussed Dodge truck from Majorette,these Chevys also have different details than its American Counterparts.
It is known that Norev went out of business for a while and then came back;in the process, new vehicles in 1/64 were molded.A list of these will be avaliable at the next post. These 1/64 cars were also known as Mini-Jets.

Dear Sirs: Norev's site is,unfortunately, unacessible.Hence,a research on the Internet revealed these 'newer' models in 1/64 (mostly Citroen or Peugeot subjects; I have some, and they are nicer than their predecessors). I also do not know their numbering sequence. See the pictures below. 209.197.70.249/store/page44.html

Dear Sirs:
Aurora is known at Slot Car circuit and they had a separate series of Diecast Cars, know as the 'Cigar Box' Series ( and again,a copy from Matchbox practices). The slot cars had plastic bodies, thus these were fairly detailed and a metal chassi that held its engine. Incidentally, from the early 1960's up to the 1970's, the engines had a good amount of improvements.By the late 1970's, Tomy took over Aurora, but that is another story.
Below,a listing of the Aurora/Afx Slot racers:
Aztec Dragster 1957 Chevrolet Nomad 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Chevrolet Corvette 1979 Chevrolet Blazer Datsun 510 racer, #46 Dodge Tradesman Van Ferrarri 512 M Furious Fueler Dragster 1931 Ford Panel Van 1956 Ford Pick-up 1962 Ford County Squire Wagon 1963 Ford Fairlane 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Ford GT40 racer, #5 Ford Econoline van Hot Rod Coupe Indy Racer Jaguar XK-120 Jaguar XKE Mako Shark 1967 Mercury Cougar 1974 Mercury Cyclone Racer #31 1970 Plymouth Superbird Plymouth Roadrunner Sand Van dune buggy Volkswagen bug racer, #2
The cars below are from the Cigar Box series: 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado Buick Riviera 1965 Ford Galaxie
There were others; given time,I may find others.

Dear Sirs: Refering to the advent calendars: In the US, the American version of it will be the Hot Wheels calendar. It comes with a car and a richly photographed card for each day of the year ( Hot Wheels photos,of course). I do not know if these are curremtly offered,by I do have their 2002 calendar. It is as nice as everything else and they went at $8.00 each. The cars are also painted for this occasion; so one can not get them elsewhere with that livery. Further,no other calendars offers the same car; hence is up to you to release-or not-the car in question.
I also remember seeing car-shaped chocolate cars-or candy- but not that often. What is often seen are cars that are filled with candy; I have two trucks that are like that.
