It's about 25 days until the Toy Fair in Nuremberg, where all the big manufacturers traditionally present their new models and give an outlook of what lies ahead. After a few disappointing years in a row from my point of view I am not expecting much in terms of new and interesting toolings, however I am still very curious. It would be nice to finally see Wiking's Opel Rekord in it's production version instead of the never ending stream of farm equipment, but that's just me. Do you expect anything special?

I’m not expecting anything special (more 50’s American cars perhaps?), but I should say I agree with you with Wiking’s "never ending stream of farm equipment".

Wiking has announced their February news, mostly models that were already more or less expected. There may be one exception though.... Wiking also announces a VW Touareg with a trailer and boat, let's hope this is new tooling because the old boat and trailer are about ready for retirement in my opinion.

Let´s see if Rietze announces the C5 for this year or not and what models are in SAI brochures. If I am not wrong, Busch will announce the news one of these days, right?

I hope , we can expect some surprises from Brekina. In my opinion it´s the most interesting HO-company in the moment. In the last "Modell-Fahrzeug" the owner spoke in an interview about a new passenger car of the 70th, a statement in an article in "modell-magazin" could be interpreted in the way, that there could be another Swedish car ?! (The Volvo Amazon is very sucessful in Scandinavia too.) Well, let´s wait and see. Of course, I hope very much, that Rietze will present the C5 and the Opels. Only announcements and busses, that´s not so interesting (my very subjective opinion). With SAI it´s a pity, they announce, but you can`t be sure at all, whether the models will come. Now we are waiting for 2 years for the Citroen Berlingo and the Peugeot 307, 1 year for the 206 SW. I phoned to them and got the information, that the 307 is cancelled, the Berlingo should come in 2004. So I think, we have to be sceptical about new announcements. It would be very nice to see something new from Norev, but i fear, they are to much engaged in other sizes.

In my opinion it´s the most interesting HO-company in the moment I agree with you about Brekina. I also think it’s the most interesting manufacturer in the moment. Their 404 Peugeot was a really good surprise, and very well done. I will have preferred a more popular version, with small hubcaps (that just to say something ;D), but I was really glad to see it. At last one more fine reproduction of a French 60’s car on HO scale, they are so few! And some of the last models they have made are really beautiful: Auto Union 1000, Volvo Amazon, Alfa Romeo Giulia, etc… Let’s hope they will go on this way. About Norev, I’ve heard there will be no new model, as the re-issues of the old ones are a success. But that just something a seller has told me in a model shop, it can be wrong. And they still have a few old models to re-issue: Simca Ariane, Renault Estafette, and their own version of the DS and the 404. There is also the 403 Pick-up, but I believe the moulds have been sold. About CMW: I should say that I’m rather disappointed by their models. Of course, I like them (I've got most of them of course) and I’m happy to have seen in only two years so much 50’s and 60’s American cars arrived on the market. That’s the first good point, the second being their prices. But I think the opening hoods are really a mistake. It thickens the all model, even if CMW have the good idea to accentuate the doors and trunk lines.

Regarding Brekina, I really hope they will make a station wagon edition of their lovely Volvo Amazon. It should not be too costly, as they only will need a mold for the car body. All other details (chassis, wheels, grille, front and rear lights and bumbers) they already have from their 2-door and 4-door versions.
