I purchased a pair of Brekina 1969 Corvettes from my local hobby shop. They are exquisite and deserve to be viewed with magnification. The spoke wheels are nice but for me they do not do justice to the power of the Corvette. Shown here is a simple replacement using the wheels from Model Power's El Camino. my favorite factory wheel for the Vette. The Brekina axles are not knurled and it is easy to pry the wheels off. I filed down the inside of the Model Power hubs then pressed them on to the Brekina axles.

The Brekina Corvette is one of the nicest models to come out in recent years. Let's hope that they continue with some additional American prototypes. How about a Corvair?

Dear All:
I been busy getting some items for the collection. There goes:
Schuco Porsche Panamera - two of them. Spark Aston Martin Cygnet,Aston Martin Vantage V8,Alpine A110 Racer,Pagani Zonda,Mercedes Benz 300 Racer,Toyota Celica Racer. Bub Kaelble Z GR 2A Truck,Borgward Van 'Firestone',Opel Olympia. Two Promotional Trollleys from a German Authority;one single and another articulated. Italery Kenworth T600 Tractor with flatbed Trailer,Western Star Tractor with Flatbed Trailer,Ford Aeromax Tractor with Van Trailer.Freightliner Tractor with Van Trailer Busch GMC TDH Transit Bus 'FDNY' Bayern Modelle Setra S6 Coach 'Polizei' SES Berlin Dump Truck Wiking Iveco (Magirus?) Dump Truck;two Magirus Dump Trucks and a M.A.N. Flatbed Truck,1951 Rolls Royce A.M.W. Volkswagen Lupo,Promo Model C.M.W. 1953 Ford Customline Wagon - two of them - 1941 Chevrolet Truck Ricko Rolls Royce Phantom II,Dodge Charger 'State Police' First Gear International TD-15 Fire Department Tractor,International TD-25 Crawler with Ripper. Tonka Porsche 928,Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Herpa Audi A8 Rally,Ford Transit Pick Up,Lot of six Volkswagen Vans,Lot of 4 Volkswagen LT Trucks. Universal Hobbies (Atlas?) Peugeot 304 Rally Tomica AEC Double Decker,Open Top Kyosho Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Norev Renault Modeus - Promo for Renault Unknown Toyota 2000 Espewe PT76 Schimmwagen Military Tank Limocars Den Oudsten Transit Bus (there is also another name for the Manufacturer).I believe that I know this model since the 1980's,thanks to this catalog of models that I have which was published in the 1980's (German Language) and these individuals also did models in HO.At any rate,I bet that this bus is a rare model.
Heljan 1958 Ford C Auto Carrier. This is the unit which had four headlights;I have also a kit of it,but never bothered to put it together. The cars which came with this truck were the same ones someone was selling,a while ago, inside a bag.Made in Germany, plastic and no interior or chassis, molded windows, and I received an Opel,Borgward Coupe and Isabella and a 1950's Mercedes Benz 300 sedan. I will buy the sack of models too, eventually so I am aware who was the Manufacturer/distribuitor of this items. I think this is the sole model of the Ford C with quad lights.;the Aurora Miniature of the Mack which uses the Ford C body may also have quads.
This guy in Japan is selling a series of coffee prizes called Suntory Boss.Japanese 4x4's,mostly in 1/100 scale and includes at least two generations of the Toyota Land Cruiser, the new FJ Cruiser, the 1980's Hillux SR5 Crew Cab Pick Up and the 1980's Isuzu Trooper 4-door SUV.They came with a small 4x4 diorama. However, what I want to list is this Alpine A110 Racer. The seller listed it as a three-incher,but in reality is on 1/87 scale, simillary painted as the Spark Version, and it is packaged inside a bluish/transparent bag with the J.T. Roots logo printed on it.I believe this vehicle is powered as well.To be frank,I got it because I thought it was 1/64,but it was a nice surprise that it was 1/87 scale in the end. The Land Cruisers are the all known FJ40 and the four-door (nice surprise) 60 FJ62V version. The Trooper was also a nice addition.
This is it for now. Most were got at BHOH.

To pick up this treath again....
My last purchases are 3 Stoney Mountain Castings. I don't like solid castings, so I had some convertibles. 1950 Packard 1947 Buick Roadmaster and 1952 Ford with continental kit
Great castings!

I just received the JB Modellautos Audi Quattro concept car from the Paris Auto Show 2010.
An absolutely superb model from a niche manufacturer. Since I love concept cars as well as Formula One models, this one is right up my alley! ;D

Just arrived my first First Gear vehicle, a large IH 560 Pay Loader, in Sunrise Mining colors. This is much, much bigger than I expected and a nice addition to my construction equipment category. Can post a pix if anyone wants me to. Swamp Daddy

Woo-Hoo, two big eBay orders arrived. Got 4 Ricko 2005 Mustangs, 1 hardtop, 2 convertibles top down; and one convertible top up. A Ricko Dodge Charger black & white police car, Dodge Caliber, Plymouth PT Cruiser, Praline Mack-Renault Grey Line Tour Bus, 2 Herpa Ford semi tractors - one day cab, one sleeper, Athearn Ford C cab Coke box van. And a Mercedes truck with weights in the bed pulling a big load on a 4axle trailer.
And three Walmart generic tractor trailers for the kiddos.
I cleaned up this time and will have to wait awhile before buying more.
have fun, Swamp Daddy

Just a little earlier in this thread, Jun 27, 2011, I noted obtaining one of the limited run BHOH truck for the colorful Baskin-Robbins paint scheme. I posted photos a day or two later at my Photobucket account of this truck. s258.photobucket.com/albums/hh280/swampdaddy_01/Look in the Herpa folder A few days ago I got an offer from someone (who stumbled across my photo pages) who used to drive one of these trucks. Quite interesting. I would never find another of them so I turned it down and sent hi-resolution photos to this person who said he will try decals. I told him to let me know if he made them up. have fun, Swamp Daddy

I've acquired several new 1/87 cars during the several months that I was unable to post. Here are a few. Among them are NEO (Cadillac, Imperial, Ford pickup), Road Ragers (Falcons, Valiants and Aussie Charger), Brekina (A-100 vans and El Camino), and Classic Metalworks (Ford wagons and DeSoto) cars. This is a lift out section on my HO train layout that I removed while the layout gets some much needed repairs.

Awesome photo and display, Jim! I'd like to see more of your layout, which undoubtedly features many vehicles... BTW, that Neo Imperial is good looking. I'm resisting at the $35.00 price right now (although I bought a pickup), but I keep thinking I need one...

I bought both the blue one and the black one and was impressed that each one had 1957 license plates from different states. My layout is pretty much dismantled right now, but heres some pictures of what it looked like. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.106283532752039.3535.100001111775214&type=3&l=0c5e285098

I like you attempting to do a 'big city' rather than 3 stores at a cross-roads and moutains and tunnels everywhere else. 5 years ago I moved and saved only a small amount of benchwork as the time I had to move was spent on removing structures and vehicles, and other details without damage.
New layout, sort of under way now, will be totally flat and all city buildings.
have fun, Harry

Jim, thanks for the link to your old layout. I enjoyed looking through the pictures. Nice WIDE streets - room for parking and traffic. A lot of layouts I see on tours and in magazines (and on the web) have way too narrow streets.
I also note that your vehicles that are "in motion" (the convertibles, at least) all have drivers. One of my pet peeves when looking at other's layouts and dioramas/displays are all the driverless vehicles. Maybe not too critical in enclosed vehicles, but absolutely ridiculous to see driverless convert's....
Question: did you make your sidewalks out of styrene? Or are they the City Classic's sidewalk kits? Either way, they look very good.
Again, nice photos and thanks for sharing!

Al, most of the streets and sidewalks on the layout are the Walthers Street Systems (both concrete and brick). For the back streets (in brick) I didn't use the full width and instead just used the brick street sections as they came out of the box for the narrower width. I cut down some of the concrete streets just a little to be a more appropriate width for the residential street going up the hill.
