Dear All:
Note:the info below has to be confirmated.
The company is new, called Planet Toys, and,as I heard (but have to confirmate by going to Wal Mart) not only offers 1/24 and 1/64 models, but 1/87 as well. The vehicles are a Dodge Van and Ford from, well, the 1970's. A 1/64 Chevrolet van is also avaliable (from the same period). If that is the case, another non-HO manufacturer which is getting onto HO wares. The vans, incidentally, look the ones which are offered by RC2/Johnny Lightning.
Anoher Chinese-based company,Audley,is offering (in 1/64 scale) Chinese-based vehicles, including the Beijing Jeep, and since trucks are also molded, some may be close to 1/87.

Dear All:
Another non-HO company offering vehicles in 1/87 scale:Winner's Circle, the well-known manufacturer who deals with Nascar items, now is offering items dear to Nascar fans. Who knows, they may wvwn add F1 or Indy Racers to their series!!
This comes to prove that other manufacturers are paying attention to this scale now.

Dear All:
The following are or close to 1/87 scale (not added to the listings of this site):
Matchbox: Isuzu Car Carrier (wrong widht), V16 Desert Racer;Guzzler/Tanker;Bulldozer. I am not sure, but its new AEC Routemaster is stated as c1/90. Is a large model, barely fits its pack.
Maisto: Lamborghini,Porsche with keyrings; Transit Authority Ford Tonka (Ford F-350 with rear 'suicide' door); Mercedes,Ford and Kenworth Semi Tractors; CAT Bulldozer. It seems that its Lincoln Limo from the Playerz series is around 1/84 or so; far away from 1/64.
Norev Mini Jets: Volvo and Renault Trucks.
Playart: a series of diecast, interiorless cars, including Volkswagen,Jaguar and others (there is a list somewhere in this thread). The most known are the Scania City Bus, 1/100 Scania City Trucks and ALF Fire Units which were also sold as Model Powers.
Kinsmart Chevrolet Caprice Police Unit.It is also sold in Boley Packs, but the Kinsmart logo is present even in that combination.
Smart Toys Volkswagen Bug and Tractor Trailer Trucks. The latters are sold in diorama setting such as construction, and the flatbeds carry construction vehicles; the latter were also sold separately.
Lledo series of British Double Decker buses from AEC and Bristol Lodekka. Alas, some of the Matchbox of Yesteryear Double Deckers also approach 1/87 scale.
Tomica Mazda Minibus, Nissan Diesel Dump truck,AEC Routemaster (which is an exact 1/87 scale match) and a c1/90 Volvo Artic bus.
Dinky Bus and minibus.
Zee Toys detailed list of their semi trailers, which included an International,Mack Cruiseliner,Kenworth and Pet. A military Jeep was also done, plus several military tanks and related vehicles.
Yatming Ford C and 9000 Cabover,Kenworth Cabover; Bernard Truck, copy of the Majorette version, and offered as a semi-tractor.
Road Champs Kenworth T600, Peterbilt,Flexble and Eagle Buses.
Majorette White,Kenworth T600,Saviem Bus,Bernard Truck and many body configurations.
I just hope that sooner or later these are added to the listings so these became more extensive. I have most of these vehicles except by the Playart cars.

Dear All:
Yat Ming was originally one of the Hong Kong Manufacturers who wanted a piece of the diecast market and they been around since the late 1970's, owned by JRI which also dealt with Road Champs. Their business process can be divided in three steps and this Manufacturer's products been used many, many times. Vehicles from their first fase of activities are still being used; some of their cars and trucks been used by other manufacturers and their HO activities, albeit small, are quite significant. As of today (thrid fase of their business) they are a renowed Manufacturer, but mostly at the big scales and they are the ones who are offering Fire Aparatus models from before the Second World War (many makes) which would be superb to appear in 1/87 scale plus other vehicles that will be nice to see the light of the day in 1/87 scale. After a period of nearly 15 years, they also re-entered the 1/64 market with nice models of the 1937 Studbaker, 1951 GMC and Mack Junior Pick Ups.
At their begginings, they were molding models of 1/64 cars (and such interesting offerings such as a 1966 Chevelle, Saab Sonnet and Volkswagen Scirocco) - some were copied from others, but still, they were well made - and 1/87 trucks and almost all saw packaging on different Manufacturer's names. What made they different from the other Hong Kong competitors was the fact that the models were well built and they had a different pack for each store one may find them. As an example, a Zylmex item would be found at the Supermakets, Toys R Us or Target, but its pack would be the same. But Yat Mings cars found at Toys R Us and at Supermarkets on the early 1980's had different packs; later, as they were ofered at K B Toys, their pack had a green-painted background while the ones found at Woolworth's (which the last oulet to carry the first generation of their products) had a white blisterpack; their models were also sold inside attractive window boxes. At the early 1990's, their cars and 1/87 trucks were back to the Supermarkets, but the basr of the vehicles had the Yat Ming logo erased. Their cars and 1/87 scale trucks were also sold under Imperial, Road Champs names; as of now - cars only - appear with Corgi and Toy Zone logos (the latter is the toy brand from CVS Pharmacies).
The second fase was not so interesting; the cars were dirt cheap, albeit some unique models were made: a 1990's Corolla Tercel and 4-door Civic. They were sold at Supermarkets under the Distribuitor's logo or at Toy Stores, under a different pack. By this Century, the Road Toughs (as their three inch series were called) were found only at the Lung's Pharmacy Group. By 2003 their 1/72 scale range (thanks to Hongweel) appeared but by then, Yat Ming was making its offers on large scales. The three inch and related trucks would be sold as sets only.
The 1/87 scale trucks also have an interesting story:
1. Ford C. Two decades before Athearn's offerings, Yat Ming made a Ford C Tractor. Granted, is not as detailed, but I am pretty sure that RR Modelers got them and if was the case, deitaled them to be more realistic. This was also sold as a Road Champs.
2. Kenworth Aerodyne. One can say that Yat Ming made that as a Promo and / or TV Related model. Originally, it was the truck driven by B.J. McKay (Greg Evigan) from the TV Show B.J. and the Bear (Bear being his Chimpanzee Companion). The Miniature has all the bells and whistles and the livery is accurate. Of course, this Tractor was also made in other liveries and yes, did also appeared as a Road Champs Product.
3. Les Camions Bernard Cab Over truck, which I believe was introduced in 1963 and was considered a very Interesting design. This Unit was copied from Majorette and I still do not understand why Yat Ming have chosen this model. Yrt, they have tractors with the liveries of US Companies, and for me, that is an interesting approach. I was learned that Mack took over this Truck Maker. This model was inside Yat Ming Packs only.
4.Ford 9000 COE. This time around, used as a Yat Ming, Supermarket Miniature with no Yat Ming logos on it and as an Imperial Toy Truck and trailer. Some of the Yat Ming cars were also badged as an Imperila Toy product, but on these, only a decal indentified them as such.
Next: the Truck List.

Dear All:
Imperial Toys Headquarters are located at seventh street in Downtown Los Angeles. In general, this is a Manufacturer of general toys; Automotive items were very few and between, and in general, their vehicles would come from other sources such as Playart or Yat Ming, which indicates that this Company been around for a while. Unique models include a c1/76 scale 1971 Chevrolet Impala 4-door Police, and at the moment, no one did a minaiture of one yet. Their HO contribuition was a Dodge D series Rescue Truck, similar to the one used on the TV show Emergency One. It is a 1972 or 1973 model year, which makes it a very unique item in any scale and likewise, it is a very scarce item as well (it just does not appears anywhere). There are also other Fire Apparatus as well, but these are close to 1/100 scale and Generic models at that.
Due to the fact that this company always used Automotive models from other sources, their next HO offerings were Yat Ming made, and these were the Ford 9000 Cabover with trailers. As of know, they are associated with Buddy L, and some of their other unique models, such as an 1/64 scale 57 Ford Coupe (was unique for a while, but not any longer) and 1973 Mustang were also sold with the latter's Manufacturer badge. Their Los Angeles Headquarters still have the Imperial Toys logo at their Water Tower. They also are represented by Canadian and UK distribuitors.

Dear All:
This is out from the press: Matchbox will make a series of rigid (non articulated) trucks in 2009, and a Pierce Fire Truck will be included in this series, which could make it a 1/87 scale truck, instead of the usual 1/90 or 1/100.
Since this is a very early announcemet. put it in hold until December first, when these models will be unveiled. To my judgement, a four inch long Pierce fire truck equals 1/87 scale; if so, this Unit will be very, very welcome.

Hi there guys! I'm writing to express how sad i feel about what athearn has done. Can u guys please explain why did they chose to discontinue the Mack R and B model tractors? I was so looking forward to buy a R model tractor after i bought the B model (lucky me), just to find out that nobody have none in stock because it is discontinued. I seen places that sells tractor trailer units but i don't want to buy company based models. shoot, I'm so depressed!

Dear All:
The Manufacturer of the Dodge Saint Regis I just got is called Shapeways. You request and they will print the vehicle for you in sturdy plastic. The body is accurate,a single piece and the wheels are part of the casting. So it is a sort of kit as painted it will look good.No chassis detail.
I looked this weekend what is being offered and 1/87 and 1/160 are the scales most used by this manufacturer. There are vehicles in other scales, including 1/64.
The other issue is that perhaps these cars are similar to the ones which were made of plaster in the past but they are by far more accurate and the number of American Cars that they are issuing in 1/87 scale is just staggering;models that I do not see anyone doing now or in the near future,if ever.
This are the Buick models that can be printed for you:
1950 Buick Roadmaster Coupe 1950 Buick Roadmaster Sedan 1950 Buick Roadmaster Station Wagon 1963 Buick Riviera 1964 Buick Skylark Coupe 1964 Buick Skylark Sport Station Wagon 1964 Buick Skylark Station Wagon 1965 Buick Skylark Sedan 1966 Buick Riviera 1967 Buick Electra Sedan 1971 Buick GSX 1971 Buick Riviera 1974 Buick Riviera 1976 Buick Electra Coupe 1976 Buick Riviera 1977 Buick Electra Sedan 1977 Buick Estate Station Wagon 1977 Buick LeSabre Coupe 1977 Buick LeSabre Sedan 1978 Buick Riviera 1980 Buick Electra Coupe 1980 Buick Electra Sedam 1981 Buick Skyhawk Coupe 1981 Buick Skyhawk Sedan 1981 Buick Skyhawk Station Wagon 1985 Buick Regal 1990 Buick Regal 1991 Buick Century 1998 Buick LeSabre 2005 Buick Lacrosse
