Nick, not to rain on your parade, but if the 67 Chevy of the Supernatural TV-series wouldn't have been a 4-door, the one from Greenlight wouldn't have been either. In other words, the Police cruiser was merely a side product to another franchise craze. A very nice one, but I wouldn't give Greenlight too high a credit for it. AutoWorld, however, they seem to have a very realism-based approach. It will be interesting to see what this new manufacturer will come up with, the first models and pre-production shots look very promising.

Dear Peter:
I got this Chevrolet last saturday and like I said,my heart skipped a beat BECAUSE IT IS a four-door sedan, with the Louisiana State Police badge, and real Chevrolet Hubcaps.Greenlight Police Series is their best-seller item, therefore they are serious what they release;other Nice one is the Ford Mustang Cruiser (mine has the Nevada State Police badge)and the Taurus Interceptor,Ford Explorer Interceptor. They also keep with the times.
Auto World 1/64 scale lineup is a project from the same Gentleman who made the Johnny Lightnings.Chevrolet Corvette,Mustang,Mustang Cobra,Dodge Dart Phoenix been their releases and,as Greenlight, they are very much 1/64 scale on the dot.Another one I am anxious for is the 1969 Chevrolet Station Wagon from Auto World;I learned how to drive with this car

Of course Nick, 1/64 has your main interrest. I thought it might be fun to build a Bluesmobile in 1/87 as well.

Dear Cor: 1/64 and 1/87 scales are 80% of my overall collection. And I agree - regular, built 1974 Monaco and Bluesmobile in 1/87 scales along another American cruisers. They would sell fast;Glen, from BHOH,told me that the new Matrix (Manufacturer) 1/43 scale 1970 Ford Custom with 'San Francisco Police' badge - and these cost $40.00 - $50.00 apiece - sold in less than two days. So,these have good sales potential,no matter what scale! Dear All:
After a quite stupid year (full of generics and cheaply done models) Matchbox is quite serious on its releases for 2015,including a vehicle from Romania, the latest Ford Cargo Truck,Lamborghini LM002 4x4 vehicle,Tesla sedan and so on.Fact is,the complaints were at high level at the MCCH Matchbox site and it seems that Mattel is hearing. As far as I am concerned,no Generic vehicles should be made, but so be it.Also, for 2014,a 4-door Silverado Pick up (perhaps,as of now,the only model of it) and a CHP Ford Mustang. The rest is all generic stuff. The Monaco and the Dodge A-100 pick up were dropped, but they will be back in 2015.2014 was as bad as 2004.No kidding, albeit such models as the Mustang Patrol was a good idea.
Equally,I just learned (and I hope that did not give up on it as Minichamps did) that Spark (yes,Spark - the one who does 1/87 and 1/43 high degree scale models) is releasing three models in 1/64 scale:a Nissan and Toyota racer, and a Porsche (901,I think) who does not exist in that scale.Critics pointed that the Porsche is not so well done, but is better than nothing.
Greenlight,on my opinion, could go on the 1/87 scale route, because they are making models in 1/43 Scale (Ford Fusion, among others) and 1/18 scale. They released a 4-door sedan of the 1967 Chevrolet Impala Hardtop, which is a good companion to their Byscaine Police Patrol.New,2015 Ford Transit Van (the one which replaced the Econoline) is also part of their offerings.
I did not heard of any new models from Auto World.Their miniatures are quite impressive.

Dear All:
One of the major discussion concerning 1/87 scale is the lack of modern American Cars (or Korean and Japanese, from that matter).Mattel did released some Hyundais in 1/64,but basically the sporty ones.Thing is,Korean miniatures of cars fare well in 1/36 Scale.
Matchbox is not really following the trend, and neither is Mattel.Majorette is releasing the newer European cars alongside items such as the new Toyota FJ Cruiser and Prius,Land Rover Evoque, and the Hybrid Lexus sedan.Greenlight did started with the classics, but they also mold the newer models. The new Dart was mentioned;others include the 2013 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger,Chevrolet Cruze,Ford Escape,Ford Fiesta,Ford Taurus SHO,the new Explorer as a civilian and Police Package version. The Police cruisers are also a mix of newer and classic items. One interesting model that Matchbox will release in 2015 is the Tesla sedan (I just saw one in my neck of the woods;very interesting design);Mattel did the convertible a while ago.Welly is also following the newer vehicle trend,by offering the Audi Q3,Range Rover Evoque, newer Toyota Corolla and Camry (circa 2011),FIAT 500 4-door,all sorts of Minis (these are made by everybody) and current Peugeots and Renaults.
As mentioned,a whole range of Korean cars (and a Hiunday Coach, commemorating the FIFA 2014 World Cup) but the big mahjority - Hiundays,Kias and the like - are better represented in 1/36 scale, push engine and all.Tomica made a few Korean vehicles in 1/64,but they are few and in between.

Dear All:
Mattel is following the James Bond license by releasing a special series with the cars from the movies, the 1971 Ford Mustang from Diamonds are forever being one of them.At the regular Hot Wheels series, the Lotus Esprit S1 (The Spy who lved me) or painted in red, suggesting the one from For your eyes only.Other releases includes the 2015 Ford F-100 pickup and a lot of generics.
Auto World is quiet on the diecast range, but active on their track based vehicles:the Dodge Monaco Police car from Ghotbusters, and the Charger from Dirty Mary,Crazy Larry. They also did an 1/18 scale version of the latter.
Greenlight has the 1967 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedan (4-door hardtop),2014 Ram 1500 Crew Pickup,Jeep Wrangler at several sub-models.On their Hollywood series, they released an RV from a known movie;first time I saw this particular one in miniature.Alas, the manufacturer is also doing 1/64 scale trucks and the first ones were International Replicas.
Maisto made a replica of the new Lamborghini Huracan.
I got Spark's 1/64 scale replica of the Porsche 901 (thanks BHOH).Nice!! Schuco is also back at 1/64 scale range of cars, but I understand that will be for a short while.

Dear All:
The Grell Brand was very much avaliable in Germany and also known in 1/87 scale,as manufacuter of an Ikarus bus and beer trucks. In addition,I will hear that they had 1/64 scale models of East German and Russian Cars, but since they were not present in the USA I could not really follow what they really offered.I managed, however,to get a fair amount of them on the last couple months and there is a list of their 1/64 releases. As I understand,Golden Wheel made the castings, and their quality is similar to the former Manufacturer.
So,there is: EMW 340 Sedan Framo V901 Panel Van IFA F8 Convertible, export version IFA F9 Coupe - like the DKW F9,different grille IFA F9 Pickup Melkus RS 1000 Coupe - 1/55 scale Moskvich 412 Sedan Sachsenring P20 Sedan Sachsenring P20 Convertible Sachsenring P20 Station Wagon Barkas B1000 Van Barkas B1000 Pick Up Tatra 603 Sedan Trabant P601 Coupe Trabant P601 Station Wagon Wartburg 311 Convertible Wartburg 311 Sedan Wartburg 353 Sedan Wartburg 353 Taxi Wartburg 353 Station Wagon Zaphorozets 968 Coupe
There are some more, and I am trying to locate that. They also did a row of German cars, these being: Ford Taunus sedan Mercedes Benz 180 Ponton sedan NSU TT Coupe Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
Most of this vehicles are to be found on 1/87 scale;thanks to Grell (Golden Wheel),such vehicles such as Barkas,Framo,IFA,Trabant,Wartburg,Moskvitch,ZAZ and Tatra - Tatra - are being offered in 1/64.
Welly - thanks to Autotime - also has an extensive range of Russian 1/64 Scale vehicles. Some of them,as the large ones, are 1/72 Scale however.

Dear All:
Tom Lowe was the creator of Playing Mantis,or Johnny Lightning series which would attract many of the diecast collectors due to the fact that the casting were all metal, and at times would offer vehicles which were not present before in 1/64.True,its scale range was all over, but some offerings, such as the Oldsmobile Toronado were very well captured.
Lowe pass Johnny Lightning to RC2 (and the vehicles were executed on the cheaper side) and later Tomy took over, did not have interest on the range, and that was that for Johnny Lightning.
As of 2014,Lowe started the Auto World diecasting, stating that all vehicles from the range were true 1/64.Some models came, and then the range is facing a standstill.
As of 2016,however,the Johnnys are back, mostly based on former Playing Mantis castings. There is a list of models already, albeit some dispute if that will really happen. Also,Lowe got licence for the castings of the former Racing Champions Mint Series. So,at all,he will be responsable for three brands.I did liked the Johnnys and the Mint Series,so I hope this goes ahead.List will be published as the brand hits the store.I hope he keeps a constant on scale. So do all of the collectors of the brand, who are happy about its return.
As a little history,Johnny Lightning was a brand of the Topper Group, which,in the late 1960's tried to compete with Mattel Hot Wheels by offering very customized vehicles. But they were not able to make it,and after a couple of trials, they were gone.Tom Lowe re-introduced the brand in the early 1990's,at first doing copies of the Topper Originals, and then his selection of vehicles.By the 2000's,he passed the Johnny to RC2 and the results are explained above.

Dear All:
This site also had a lot of information, specially for 1/64 brands (and the obscure ones) - The Matchbox Collectors Community Hall.Six months ago,it was infected by a virus and nothing happened;as of now, this is an inactive site.A shame. But there is this site which equally carry a heavy amount of info, and Hobby Talk.
Regarding Johnny Lightning, there are pictures of their packaging;the same was shown for the Racing Champions Mint series. There are questions if - like Greenlight,M2 Castline and Auto World - the scale will be exactly 1/64 or all over the place.
Despite the fact that Matchbox is offering all kinds of Generic Models (and a 2015 list of models is not known yet) some of the realistic models are:
001 Porsche Cayman 2014 003 Ford Cargo 2013 005 Cadillac One - Obama's Car 007 Tesla Model S 026 Matchbox Ford F-150 2015 049 GHE-O Rescue (Romanian SUV) 053 BMW M5 'Polizei' 055 Mack CF Pumper 1975 083 Lamborghini LM002 084 Jeep Willys Pickup
There are something like five of the (new) Generic Vehicles.Cars like the 2014 release Alfa Romeo 4c came only this year, and the announced Land Rover Evoque (planned since 2013) did not see the light of the day.The Mack CF,Tesla,Jeep Pickup are very decent casting. Is interesting to notice that NEO offered the Jeep Wagon and pickup;new castings as two years ago and most of the Matchbox Collectors are also asking for the Wagon.

Dear All:
As I stated before,Johnny Lightning and Racing Champions Mint Series will be back for 2016.Here is some listing of what is coming up.
1.Racing Champions Mint. 1960 Chevy Impala 1956 Chevy Nomad C 1968 Plymouth Road Runner 1949 Buick Riviera 1965 Pontiac GTO R 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona These come in two set of colors.
2.Johnny Lightning Street Freaks R1-A 1970 Plymouth GTX 1963 Chevy Nova 1958 Plymouth Belvedere 1976 Chevy Camaro 1963 Ford Galaxie 1972 Buick Riviera Again, set of two colors.
3.Johnny Lightning Classic Gold R1-A 1975 Super Beetle Convertible 1971 Ford Maverick 1981 Jeep Wagoneer 1965 Pontiac Catalina 1965 Buick Riviera 1967 Ford Fairlane In two sets of colors. 4.Johnny Lightning Muscle Cars R1-A 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Grabber 1971 Buick GSX 1969 Dodge Coronet Convertible Rallye 1971 Pontiac GTO 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS 1970 Rebel Machine In two set of colors.
Not exactly a set of new castings, but these are welcome.Hence,Tom Lowe now has the responsability over Auto World,Johnny Lightning and Racing Champions (some are ERTL castings) series.I welcome that.On middle of this, two questions remain as of now:where to get them and hope there are not distribuition issues,as it happens with Auto World (and in a bit out of the subject,Matchbox).
2016 seems to be a good year for the collector. My wallet will literally smoke.

Dear All:
Matchbox did it during its Superking era,and now NEO is offering one:1/64 Scale Dodge CNT 950 semi tractor,1973 Model Year (two years before Chrysler left the heavy trucking market). The Matchbox version is an articulated Dump Truck with several variations. The real vehicle is a difficult must-see as is as of now a rare item.NEO also does a Diamond Reo in 1/64;hope they do more.
M2 Castline made another 1957 Chevy. The difference is the fact that is not another Nomad but a 4-door 210 Beauville Station Wagon.I been wishing four doors for a good while and now is a reality.Add a 1964,big window,Plymouth Barracuda to the mix by Auto World.
