Thanks Peter! Somewhere I knew it didn't make sense, but it was me told by a Chechian model-manufacturer so I thought he should know more about the east-European models.

I got my yellow one around 1990 or so, from a guy I had been exchanging with for 1:43 (and other) scale Russian diecast. It was supposed to date from the late 1940's, IIRC. I received it in a box that had a bunch of different 1:87 ZIS-5 variants in it (vans, tankers, etc). They were strange in that they had removable "rubber" tires. I should dig them out and look at them again. They were remarkably well detailed. The same person was trying to make a mold for a 1/87 GAZ-69 "jeep", but I only think that he got as far as the grille, doors, and hood. Ed This GAZ 69 USSR Jeep from 1952 I have here on my desk. This one is made by HB Model from Czech Republic.

I guess you are right Christian!
(At the trade show, the designs were spotted by a representative of the George Lefton Co., of Chicago, best known for selling imported collectible china dinnerware and figurines. It was the beginning of a four-year partnership with the company.)
Great information.

I voted for the 1925-1929 40/50 Phantom. More specific the Phantom I 16 EX Boattail in white with a wooden "deck". It's the one Alt Berlin have done but the car deserves a better model!

Absolutely right Sylvain!
I don't get very well of those Malibu-sellers too, but that is just merchandising! See wich crazy buyer gives good money for it! But making copies from othermans work is steeling!

Lee, I believe that because you have changed the scale of the model, you are creating an entirely different model from the original. Jack I fully agree!

Dear All: In Jack's (my partner) case, he takes a certain model and modifies them to make a car that no one did before (i.e., he used CMW's Impala and used its body to mold a Saint Regis, Newport and Diplomat); Trident Ford Crew cab was converted to an International Crew Cab Pick Up. He has no interest to sell, and makes one (or two) models and that is that; I have most of his 'transformations'. I had a hunch that Model Licencing was mostly set to the major manufacturers and now I came to understand why some models may not see the light of the day, at least in 1/87 scale. Jack did not made any models for nearly three years now; the IH Pick up is still on hold. People who just cast some models for their own or nearby friend arn't the problem. People who are selling them via a website and "swapmeets" are the problem. They are just re-producing to fill their moneybag!

Yes, I had the same problem with my models. Therefor I stopped some years to make new models and I even didn't produce my exising models anymore. Right now I am developping some new models again but I'm not in a hurry anymore! Still afraid some criminal will copy them as soon as I put them in the market!
