Dear All: The comments below thanks to www.policeworldwide.com . I found the site above and it has photos of Police Units in many Countries (Swaziland - with its Corolla Unit - is listed; Guinea and Guinea-Bissau is not) and had a set of surprises here. The Ford Crown Victoria seem to be patrolling, besides the streets of North America, the City of Nassau, in the Bahamas; the City of Musqat, in Oman; Kuwait City (well, not really a surprise); the Micronesia as well. Places like Puerto Rico,Guam,American Virgin Islands are a given. I think there are more places, but I still have to check. Panama Canal Zone has Luminas; other Country (I do not remember which) has Luminas and Impalas patrolling their streets. Greece has Jeep Police Units and the Moscow not only has the Vic patrolling its streets, but Caprices as well. To my enormous surprise, the Czeck Republic has Dodge Intrepids (badged as Chrysler) as Police Units plus Dodge Spirits. Nicaragua has Lada Patrol Units. Afghanistan added a fleet of Ford Ranger Crew Cabs to its Police Forces. And the Europeans have a good selection of European and Japanese Patrol Cars; Taiwan has its locally built Ford doing its Patrol duty. The Netherlands spot Dodge (refered as Chrysler) Minivans. P.S. - addition: Norway has a Ford Excursion with its Police Forces!! Hm!! And so on

The Swedes and Swiss are also fond of American vehicles. The Swedish emergency services like Chevrolets.

The most unusal Police cars I've ever ssen were in Philadelphia. They used to have Plymouth Horizons and Dodge Omnis as patrol cars! Also in the 1950's and 60's Philadelphia Police cars were painted Red!

The Swedes and Swiss are also fond of American vehicles. The Swedish emergency services like Chevrolets. The Swedish police used to use Dodge Valiants, from the fifties and on into the seventies. To protect the spines of our cops, these Valiants were equipped with Saab front seats rather than the front bench. All of the Swedish police Valiants were sixes, which sufficed at the time. For a Swedish yank-car fan back then, driving a Valiant with those tell-tale Saab seats was nearly as embarrassing as being in a European car...

Even a Valiant with a six cylinder engine had to be better then an Omni or Horizon. I think they had chain saw motors in them. I mean Vegas and Pintos ran better then to those things.

I purchased a Dodge Omni new in 1979. Great little car and you still see them running around here in the Chcagoland area.
My new Omni had a little audi and VW logo stamped on the engine block ...........so it had be be a little better than a Chain saw engine.

The first Omni/Horizons used an Audi 1.7 litre engine, later they got the Chrysler 2.2. Neither of which was exactly a fabulous engine (nothing was back in '79...) but they were no worse than anything else at the time.

Glendale has grown over the years from a suburb community into a major city in it's own right. Here is a couple of photos of the mobile field command unit: One of the swat units. Notice the running boards. I saw these moving out very early on morning with fully outfitted officers hanging on to the sides. another swat unit: Check out these doors. The new police station is built like a fort

Dear All: Courtesy from youtube. Agreed, my favorite, 1977/1978 Monaco is not present, but there are others which I just can not praise enough, such as a Matador, Saint Regis, Diplomat, what looks as the final of Biscaynes or a Bel Air and even Sheriff's Justice's ride. Dear All:
As of 2008, the LAPD bought the usual Crown Vics and added something else to their fleet: the Dodge Charger (I did not saw any on my neck of the woods yet). Is interesting to note that the LAPD did not had the Diplomat/Fury at their fleet in the past, because the Agency did not wanted vehicles whose wheelbase is shorter that 114 inches. The Diplomat had an wheelbase of 112.7 inches, while the Caprice stood at 116.0 and the Vic is close to the LAPD specifications at 114.3 inches. It reminds me the times when the CHP also did not wamted vehicles whose wheelbase were as close as a full-size (as in the older times) but where impressed when they tested the 1975 Dodge Coronet and started to add mid-sized cars to their fleets. So another change is coming to the Police Departments of the Country.

Dear All:
Yesterday, at my neck of the woods, the LAPD had some kind of emergency at this intersection and there were all sorts of cops and Police Cars at the location (this officer came to his Vic I was close to, opened the trunk and installed the enormous shot gun he was handling). In the process, I found out that the LAPD also got, besides the Charger, 2009 Chevrolet Impalas (they relaxed their maximum wheelbase requirements; this is the reason why LAPD never had Diplomats or 1980's Malibus at their fleets).
