Dear Sylvain:
I do have a fantastic book on the subject, the Encyclopedia of American Police Cars. Problem is,the photos at this reference are on Black and White and I do not know any reference about color photos.
However, some of the sites that are mentioned at rhis thread may have color pictures of older cruisers.

You can also find some good pictures merely by doing a Google search for 1962 Dodge police car or 1962 Plymouth police car. This will save some time compared to going through Dave Arnold's huge collection.
Basically, police cars didn't change all that much from the late-1950s to the later 1960s, so you can search for all sorts of old police car photos and they will still be valid examples of what the typical 1962 cop car looked like.

Dear Sirs:
I am aware that the Impala - under the SS version - will offer an V8 engine, rated at 303 horsepower. Still a front-driver however.
Holden has the rwd Commodore. Of course,is offered as a cop car. Not only that,in the cop version it can make 0-60 runs in the six second bracket or less, and total speed of 150 mph. Like the Polara, but it less bulkier than the latter.
Hence,the Impala,if receives a rwd treatment,may be a very capable cop unit. Alas,its a best-seller.just behind the Camry/Accord duo (I wonder where the Chrysler 300 sales are).
The Holdens,in the other hand.not only have the Police market in Australia, but is popular in the Middle East, where is sold as a Chevy.

According to GM's FCO group, the 2006 Impala Police Package includes only a more powerful 3.9-liter, V6 engine. There is no V8 at this time.
GM discontinued development of their full-size RWD platform to accelerate the introduction of the new full-size GMT900 truck/SUV line (how smart a move that was remains to be seen).
GM has already ruled out use of the Holden for the U.S. market.
The Impala is not the best-selling American car. That would be the Malibu, which trails the Camry, Accord, Corolla and Civic. As of August 31, Chrysler had sold 94,081 300s, just over half the volume of the Malibu at 182,095. The Impala has hit 160,579.

Dear Sirs:
That is what I read at one site: Impala sales at 290,000 units, behind the Camry/Accord package.
See it below:
Jim Mateja Chicago Tribune September 18, 2005 Credit the Chevy design team for making the roads a better place to travel at night now that they've awakened from their comas and done away with those insidious "Cheerio" taillamps on the Impala.
There was debate as to which was worse, being stuck behind a blue hair traveling at 40 m.p.h. in the center lane or behind an Impala at night and having those lamps staring back at you like a General Mills billboard.
For the '06 model year Impala has undergone a major redesign with new headlamps, chrome accents on the deck lid, chrome Impala logos on the body panels and body-colored door handles and moldings. And no more Cheerio taillamps.
"While you always knew when following an Impala with those taillamps, it had a like-it-or-don't-like it effect, and we chose a less polarizing look," said Mark Clawson, Impala marketing director, in bidding cheerio to the Cheerios.
Bob Lutz, head of advance product development for General Motors, said Chevrolet brought out the retro HHR because "we have Impala and Monte Carlo and needed something with more emotional appeal."
Though the '06 Impala lacks styling pizzazz, it still is the unsung hero for Chevrolet and GM: The top-selling sedan for both and the top-selling domestic sedan in the industry. Only the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, two other bland sedans, outsell it.
Impala sold more than 290,000 copies last year, and Clawson is counting on meeting or exceeding that this year.
It should help that the 2006 Impala adds an eight-way power driver's seat, side-curtain air bags front and rear, CD player, cruise control and overhead assist grips as standard. Yet it lowers the base price by $1,100.
While trying to wean consumers from incentives with lower stickers, Chevy still offers a $1,000 rebate to encourage a successful new model launch.
The midsize, front-wheel-drive Impala is built on the same platform and in the same Oshawa, Ontario, plant as the Buick LaCrosse and Pontiac Grand Prix.
At Lutz' prodding, LaCrosse adopted "quiet tuning," insulating the car to isolate noise, and the unusually quiet Impala has adopted the same technology.
Lutz also insisted that body panels line up without gaps and screw heads and fasteners be covered. Impala follows the party line and goes one better by adding cloth aprons behind the front seats to hide the metal slide rails. Nice touch.

I see where you got your data. The numbers are correct for calendar year 2004: in fact, GM sold a total of 290,259 Impalas, its best sales year ever, and it was the bet-selling American car. However, it was fourth, coming in behind the Camry, Accord and Civic.
So far this year, Impala sales are down 14.9% and they were down 25.5% in August.

Dear Sirs:
And,regarding the Current Impala,GM is really trying to push publicity for its item by testing the Police Package Impala at the Indianapolis Speedway (as seen in the local news). I do not now, but I do think the Charger will be the favorite as far mid-sized cop cars are concerned and now I do think that the Vic is up now to a serious challenge.

Dear Sirs:
At today's news,LAPD's Chief of Police wants to install cameras in all of their cruisers in order to avoid the lawsuit bonanza that is being thrown at the department. A vote will decide if that will happen. One the issues is the price tag which runs at the million of dollars. As is stated,a Camera will prove without a shadow of a doubt who's guilty and also if the officer is behaving,so to speak. The news report stated that the Rodney King beating was filmed by an amateur photogrrapher.
Being a fan of the 1998 series 'Police Videos' I do agree that a camera is a good ideia.

Dear Sirs: Another find from my 'visits' at the Internet: policecanada.ca/accueil.html I am not sure, but it seems that the 1978 Plymouth Fury was called the Dodge Coronet in Canada. I have to confirm that.

Dear Sirs:
There one thing I can say: oh,yeah!!!
Well,is true: there are Mopar Police Cars up there!! I saw one today, with Northridge Police markings in it (I believe that should be Campus Police from CSUN -California State University,Northridge Campus). It was across the parking lot of the university, giving someone a ticket, and, yes a Dodge Magnum Police Cruiser. In the Black and White version as this vehicle was,it almost look sinister as does the Vic LX in all black or the short-lived Marauder on the same livery.
Close to my computer,I have a transparent box with Jack's creations plus some additions, such as the Matchbox version of the Magnum Police.Very happy by seeing the real item!!!
Dear Bill:
It seems that the Modern Police Cars have a lightning bar that is not that tall.Burbank Police and this Northridge cop had it.How that is called?
LAPD uses the conventional one. They can not even afford a Vector-Type.
