How about the Audi A8 concept 'ASF' made by Rietze ? It is, ofcourse, not a 'concept' as the other ones mentioned in this thread, but still.....

Please - this thread is for existing models in 1/87. No need to add wishlists here. It is perfectly acceptable to say "how about this one", "I would like ..." etc, but I am getting rather tired of random lists.

How about Herpa's BMW M1? Though that would probably be more of a limited-production car. Or the James Bond models produced for BMW? They were definitely "show" cars! Matchbox produced a small line of "futuristic" cars in the 1/87 scale "Matchbox 2000" series some years back. They didn't follow any particular prototype concept car, but they borrowed a number of styling cues. I think I have an almost complete set of those somewhere in the house.

Dear Sirs:
Speaking of James Bond, the Toyota 2000 that stars at the 'You only live twice' was specially made for the movie.Hence, this is a 'show car' as well and I know that this car-the coupe version- was done on 1/87.
Dear Christian:
I did not explained myself at the Dodge Power wagon and the other show cars. What I meant that these are models with lots of potential for 1/87 scale.Details from this vehicles were added to some of the current production cars/trucks.

Dear Sirs: How could I forget it? Getting old,I guess. New Ray's 1/87 scale version of the Jeep Dakar,a 1997 Show truck that never reached production. The model-toy,rather-was part of a (non electric) train set.I only saw this set once. The truck,so far I know, was not avaliable by itself. A photo-and details-of the real thing: www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Poster/Dakar.html

Not trying to add a "wish list" here, but I would like to know if any of the great Harley J. Earle's work has been done in 1:87. Such cars as the '51 LeSabre and the Firebird 1,2 & 3 (the list is quite extensive) have been so influential on automobile styling, I just wonder if there is something out there to convert. Also, his idea for the Motorama would make a terrific diorama.

Dear cfsmire:
Some of these were modeled in another scales. There is a 1/43 scale manufacturer that models all kind of showcars;the ones that you mentioned were done by them.In 1/87,it comes down to conversion from existing models-the ones that were influenced from these show cars.

Dear Sirs:
Very soon, on the 1/64 cars thread,I will give a listing of Maisto's show cars that were done by them. Frankly,I consider these piece of history and I like to see them modeled. They are clues - somehow - how future cars will look.

I believe I saw a program in which Matchbox took one of the futuristic cars and made it into a 1/1 vehicle for one of their anniversaries. Interesting use of Cad/Cam technology in the build.

Also, his idea for the Motorama would make a terrific diorama. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, Schuco produced a model of the Firebird II in their Piccolo line. They also offered a Ford Atmos. I am not aware of any of Earl's other work (Y-Job, LeSabre, Wildcat, Nomad, some beautiful Eldorados) being offered in 1/87 scale.

Dear Bill: Not on 1/87,unfortunatelly,but there is this range of 1/43 white metal models - Great American Dreams - which molds nothing but showcars, the ones above included. And Playing Mantis do released a Chevrolet Corvette Nomad.
