Yes, many person 'pad' the shipping costs to make more money. This is wrong, but, very common anywhere in the world. Now, I hear (via some dealers sites) that PayPal will impose a 10% fee if you use them to ship. So $10 shipping would be $11 under the new rules (if or when they go into effect.) I buy less and less on eBay strictly because of the excess fees and exaggerated shipping costs. I still look alot because it is fun to see all the items available. Swamp Daddy Although 10% seems a little high I can see this happening. It is an expense for them to offer and run this service. If you use another USPS approved service (eg Stamps.com ) you have to pay a monthly service charge. The USPS Click, & Ship does not offer all the services needed for shipping. Add this to the recent postage increase and the Ebay F.V.F. increase pending, it can do nothing but hurt us and our hobby. Dwight

Recently I received a notice from Ebay that they were changing their Final Value Fee structure. This change is to take effect April 1, 2011 Sellers that have been listing on Ebay using realistic charges based on postage and materials are going to have their F.V.F increased on every sale. In turn we are going to pass this added cost on to the buyer, taking more hobby dollars out of their pockets. Without Ebay, our hobby would not have developed to the point it has today. It is much easier to reach more people for buying or selling on Ebay ( or Web Sites ) than it was when we had to use magazines. I do not have the solution. If the fees keep rising and taking away from the hobby dollars, sales will decrease. Ebay will make less in fees and the cycle will start all over. I have been selling some larger scale diecast on eBay, and keep my shipping charge very close to actual cost. My typical item is 3 lbs , $10 shipping in US, and a sales price of $15. The items do not come to me for free, so my profit is barely compensation for the time invested and I am already questioning whether I continue to sell. I have not received eBay's notice of new FVF fee structure yet. If it becomes effective I will choose either to add to shipping charges or quit selling. The only win I see is that by quitting selling I would have some time to build models. Dave

I made an error in the date listed. The Ebay site lists July 6, 2011 as the effective date. pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/feeupdate2011.html#faq0 What are the changes to eBay selling fees? We’re introducing new Standard fees that will allow those who sell occasionally to list with no upfront cost and lowering many Final Value Fee rates on both Auction-style and Fixed Price listings for sellers with a Store subscription. To reward free and low cost shipping for all sellers, Final Value Fees will be extended to cover the total amount of the sale. The total amount of the sale will include the cost of the item, shipping, and any other fees a seller may charge (for example engraving or gift wrapping), excluding any sales tax. As usual they have a whole page of FAQ explaining how buyers and sellers alike are going to love these changes.

Thanks Dwight, for the link. As you say, they are great at the art of making the changes sound good for sellers! I think it amounts to slipping a 25 cent coin into my pocket while pulling a $1 bill from my other pocket. I should be happy for the extra cold hard cash. Dave

That's about a normal price for the McDonalds in good shape. One still a kit might hit $200.
the other item that always goes sky high in price are the Revell 1961 Chrysler Cars. 7 factory built are usually $100-$120. The same thing in kit form (Convert-a-Car) usually goes for around $200. All out of my price range. LOL.
