Hi all: The McDonalds McCafe building is out; I've already seen it on eBay. And, those who might want a good building for a diorama or layout - the long out of production Walters Ford Uptown Motors building is available here, shop.ebay.com/tomstrainsct/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340at a bargin price so far. In fact this site has the whole Walters FORD series available (tire plant, HQ, etc.) if you need them. Swamp Daddy

Would those Camaros be good for supplying roofs to the diecast convertible Camaros (Model Power, etc)?

Well, it's just as expensive, or more so, shipping from Europe to here. German eBay in particular seems to have extra high shipping rates to the US. Hurts modelers all around; but, there is no answer. I expect rates and taxes to rise all around the globe. Swamp Daddy

Yes Harry, Quite often the requested costs are truly exceptional. And much higher than actual costs. What some Germans desire to contribute is not a measure of the actual cost for shipping. Some Americans may also be some of it. Recently I bought an Ulrich model for $ 40. They only ship by UPS, brookercosts and shipment came with costs higher than the model was worth

Yes, many person 'pad' the shipping costs to make more money. This is wrong, but, very common anywhere in the world. Now, I hear (via some dealers sites) that PayPal will impose a 10% fee if you use them to ship. So $10 shipping would be $11 under the new rules (if or when they go into effect.) I buy less and less on eBay strictly because of the excess fees and exaggerated shipping costs. I still look alot because it is fun to see all the items available. Swamp Daddy

Swamp Daddy If I can help you somehow.. About PayPal I still have to find out about the costs.. Last week I had a shipment to Skunk, and I tried that from Germany, just across the border.. That was realy cheap, but within limited sizes.

Recently I received a notice from Ebay that they were changing their Final Value Fee structure. This change is to take effect April 1, 2011
In the past, sellers paid a F V F based on the selling price, not including the shipping. This is why some sellers had low listing prices and high shipping charges. Along this line Ebay pushed sellers to offer free shipping, knowing they would add the cost to the listing price. This increase in the listing / selling price would also increase the F.V.F.
Effective with the new fee structure, sellers will be charged a F.V.F. based on the combined total of the selling price + shipping. It seems like poor timing, with the economy the way it is. Buyer & seller hobby dollars are stretched to the limits now. Sellers that have been listing on Ebay using realistic charges based on postage and materials are going to have their F.V.F increased on every sale. In turn we are going to pass this added cost on to the buyer, taking more hobby dollars out of their pockets.
As of this date I have not been notified by Pay Pal about a fee increase. Once again, if they increase the fee structure it will get passed along to the buyers, as we are going to do with the Ebay F.V.F.
We stopped doing international shipping some time ago. The postal fees we had to charge actually hurt sales. Buyers thought we were making a ton of money on the postage. Taking into account the postage / packaging / customs documents it was not cost effective to ship internationally. In addition to the high cost, some buyers would ask that the package be marked "gift". This created more time spent on sales as emails went back and forth. They did not understand why we would not do it. They also did not want to understand what our fine would be if caught doing this.
Without Ebay, our hobby would not have developed to the point it has today. It is much easier to reach more people for buying or selling on Ebay ( or Web Sites ) than it was when we had to use magazines.
I do not have the solution. If the fees keep rising and taking away from the hobby dollars, sales will decrease. Ebay will make less in fees and the cycle will start all over.
