Hi all: I am making a sort of a free lance copy of one of the local Packard dealerships (long gone now). The dealership here was a large two story building with huge plate glass show room windows on both floors including some rotating turntables on both floors. Unusual but good looking dealership in my opinion. Anyone else have a Packard dealership?

Hi all: Finally got my Packard 733 Straight 8 Sport Phaeton from 1930 from BoS. A very nice model . I sent them an email suggesting the making of some 1950s Packards to their fine standards; I figure it never hurts to ask. Also got their Studebaker Commander and the Dodge Royale Lancer in nice 50s 2-tone pink.

Hi all: The Russians liked Packard styling and cars well enough that obvious clones were made for years and I've seen a model of the Zil 111 Gaz available in 1.87. Wish I could afford one. After the Packards were history I've seen Russian clones of Buicks & Cadillacs; later the interest shifted to European cars, etc. Wish models were available easily over here at typical prices.

Hi all: New photo up of total Packard collection at my photobucket account, go here:
Sorry link erased as I eliminated my PhotoBucket account -- got too many warnings from them and closed it out.
Some are Stony Mountain Castings, some Greg's Garage, and one is an under sized (about 1/100) Ferrero choco-egg premium.
Have gotten coloring problems when trying to photo individual ones so will have more photos later on.

have fun modeling, Swamp Daddy I believe that the tooling for the 56 Packard was sold to Russia and that's why the Gaz looked so much like the mid 50's Packards.

Jim68cuda: It's a myth that has been going around for decades that some Packard tooling went to Russia. Not so. Some pre-war model 41-43, as I recall, was also copied by the Russians and that first started the myth during WWII that the earlier tooling had been sold. Several books have debunked that and also an article in Hemmings Motor News. I believed it for awhile until I researched it further. The PACKARD clones were made up until sometime in 1959 then the Russians copied other American big cars before switching to European clones in the 2000's. Google Russian Zil, Zis & Gaz Chaika models and watch the evolution of the Russian luxury car clones. Trucks & buses too.
If some model maker would make 1951-54 models at decent prices or the 55-56 models they'd keep me broke buying them. LOL.

Hi all: Photos of my latest Packards here: (sorry but my PhotoBucket account is gone - no photos available0 These were custom painted by Master Craftsman Dave Johnson (member of this site) for me. My dad loved Packards and bought them until the end. The brand was gone by the time I could afford cars of my own and I favored muscle cars in those days. But, I sure rode in plenty of Packards as a kid.
Hopefully I'll get around to building a Packard dealership to house all of my excellent Packard models.

Jim68cuda: Very similar model and of the same car. The one I referred to was resin and I saw it on some German website and it was "out of stock" before I could order it. This one you found looks interesting and I'll have to order one. The one I originally saw was not the limo model and had no chrome or flag. Thanks for alerting me about the model.
Swamp Daddy having some Packard fever PS-you might like this short ZIS and ZIL article (one of several on the subject): www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/heritage_zis_zil

Hi all: Two more Packards arrived today (custom painted for me). A 1948 limo painted black, and a 1950 Convertible painted baby blue. My fleet is now up to five (and two more ordered); I need to get my dealership ready and these will be in the used car lot.
I have found some quality 3D printed 1955 Packard cars; the price is outrageous but eventually I'll bite the bullet and get some. I keep hoping someone like Best of Show will do 1955 or 56 Packards. I do have their oldie Packard. The unpainted, unfinished resin 3D model are as much as the BoS offerings. Best of Show is one of the top companies around now in offering new items.
I've done some graphics work and have all the signs ready for a Packard Dealership. Need to get "un-lazy" and get to work.

While older Packards have been available in resin, etc. The last of the line in the big Packards were the 1955-56 models. I recently spotted one on the Shapeways site: www.shapeways.com/product/NY2UCNGCV/1-87-1955-56-packard-patrician-sedan?optionId=59024070&li=marketplace It has been there for a few years in the rough grain "versitile white plastic" but only recently became available in the smoother grained (best for painting, etc.) plastic at $29.95 each. Needless to say I have not ordered any yet. Too expensive for the quantity I need. Have fun, Swamp Daddy

Finally bit the bullet and bought a Best of Show Russian ZIL-111-V, a clone look-a-like of a 1956 Packard. Expensive, but I found one on sale. Good looking model (as are all of the BoS models) and will go somewhere on the layout.
Have fun, Swamp Daddy back for awhile

Sorry, I rarely check out this once neat site anymore so didn't spot your question until now. It was from an individual in Texas and was 25 dollars. I can not locate the eBay address.
