Hi all: I realize I might be tugging on Superman's cape here; but, check this Packard out: tinyurl.com/622a33and I need a dozen or so of them for my Packard Dealership. LOL. Love those tri-colors. In fact, if you are a collector of good minatures check out their entire 1/32 line which is 95% old American iron. I'd buy them all if I could find them at the Wal-Mart price. I bought two of the Packards at Wal-Mart a Christmas or so ago at $3.97 or $4.97 (I forget which). If that 1/32 line was in 1/87, I think I would buy them all. Harry

AT LAST ! Announced by CMW for Spring 2012 release (if on time), a 1953 Packard Caribbean car. Hopefully in both convertible and hardtop versions. I have a number of Stoney Mountain and Greg's Garage Packards; and, I might even get around to painting some of them one day (LOL) if I don't visit that big junkyard in the sky first. But, for 1/87, I think this a major step forward to have a major RTR company introduce a classic Packard of the 50's. Can I hope for some of those wonderful tri-color Packards, the '55 and '56 models, one day? I'll buy many of every color available of the '53s when they come out. Never enough Packards, Swamp Daddy

hem… I'm sorry to say this, but I believe you have misunderstood what they say. They do not announce a Packard in 1/87th scale, but as a "Die-Cast model kit', in 1/24.

Thats the way I see it too. The 53 Packard is 1/24 scale. And incidentally, the Carribean was a convertible only. Packard didn't do a 2 door hardtop Carribean (at least not in 53).
I do see that Classic Metalworks has announced a 1/87 scale 1950 DeSoto 4 door sedan, a 1/87 scale 53 Ford Mainline 4 door station wagon (non-woody), and a 1/87 scale 1950's GMC Scenicruiser bus, but not Packards. Sorry.

These are Ferrero cars - sold in "kinder surprise" choco-eggs.

Thanks for the info; I guess the other question I should have asked is how close to HO scale are they (only interested in the Packard)?
have fun, Swamp Daddy

I also have the '56 Imperial Sedan…

Approached my 5th HO Scale manufacturer trying to drum up interest in some Packard models. Won't identify the one but actually found interest in the subject but the usual costs versus demand were there. Including someone who (apparently) has rights to the Packard name and is greedy . But at least the person in charge actually thought about making Packards. I haven't given up hope; but, it looks it won't be in my lifetime . Have fun, Swamp Daddy

But you know that BoS has one in 1:87th scale?
It’s a Packard 733 Straight 8 Sport Phaeton from 1930.

Thanks for the heads up on the BoS old Packards. Have ordered them. I am really interested in the 1950s Packards; but, these 1930s ones can be in a 'car museum'. I have the National Motor Car old Packards too but the soft metal they are made of you have to brace to keep it from sagging under it's own weight.
Hopefully one day some 50s Packard automobiles will be made.
Have fun, Swamp Daddy
