It’s already Fall, so it’s time to kick off the Fourth Annual 1/87 Vehicle Club Holiday Model Contest. There will be two categories: Holiday Scene and Holiday Model. The first category is for dioramas or layouts featuring one or more 1/87-scale vehicle models in a scale scene. The second is for individual models.
To enter: 1. Build a diorama or a model (you can also modify an existing scene or model). 2. Take a photograph. 3. Send it in. Prints should be sent to:
2004 Holiday Model Contest
1/87 Vehicle Club
P.O. Box 2701
Carlsbad, California 92018-2701 USA
Digital photographs must be sent to: photos@1-87vehicles.org. Please include a reference to “2004 Holiday Model Contest” in the subject line of your e-mail. Do not send photos to any other Club e-mail address.
All entries must include your name and complete address (if you win, we need to know where to ship the prize, right?) as well as an e-mail address.
2004 Holiday Model Contest Rules (almost exactly the same as last year’s rules)
1. The contest is open to anyone. It is not necessary to be a member of the 1-87 Vehicle Club. Entrants under the age of eighteen must have permission from a parent or guardian (this is because we post the winner’s name on the Club web site).
2. All entries must have a holiday or holiday season theme.
3. The particular holiday is up to you, subject to the following limitations: It must be a holiday observed annually in more than one nation and observance must take place each year between September 30 and January 1.
4. The theme and presentation must be tasteful and suitable for viewers of any age.
5. For the Holiday Scene competition, all major elements of the scene (vehicles, structures, figures, etc.) must be in 1/87 scale ± 5%. The sole exception will be natural backgrounds in scenes photographed outside.
6. For the Holiday Model competition, the subject must be a vehicle in 1/87 scale ± 5%.
7. By submitting an entry, you are certifying: (a) The scene or model meets the contest standards and is your own work. Exceptions: If the scene or model is the result of a collaborative effort, each participant must be identified. (b) The scene or model has not been previously submitted to the 1/87 Vehicle Club in any form.
8. If you did not take the picture you are submitting, the name of the person taking the photograph must be included with your entry.
9. Mailed entries must be postmarked by Thursday, December 2, 2004 and received no later than Thursday, December 9, 2004. Electronic entries must be received by 11:59 P.M. Eastern Standard Time (U.S.A.) on Thursday, December 9, 2004. The 1/87 Vehicle Club is not responsible for lost, damaged, or misdirected entries.
10. By entering the contest, you accept the following conditions: All entries become the property of the 1/87 Vehicle Club and may be reproduced in Club publications or on the Club web site without notice or compensation.
11. Judges will be selected by the contest sponsor and their decisions are final.
12. Prizes: Each competition will have a First Prize and a Second Prize. Depending on the volume of entries received, there may be additional prizes at the sole discretion of the contest sponsor(s). The contest sponsor(s) will supply all prizes and bear all costs of shipping the prizes to the winners. Any taxes, customs duties or other fees required by law are the responsibility of the winner.
