I don't really care about the Hydroshrink any more, but I really would appreciate if the Hydrospan would be available in smaller quantities.

Thanks to this board and guys like Joe Fay I finally got the guts to retry using the hydro shrink. The information I found here help explain the use a lot better. I used a Matchbox King Size Dodge and with some experimentation ended up with a good model. Thanks again. Steve D. I have a picture of my work so far, i181.photobucket.com/albums/x37/stevette66/DODGE%20SHRINK/IMG_5985.jpg

Steve:
Your projects look great. I think I have finally conquered Hydroshrink. I am getting close to completing all the prototypes that I have dreamed about making since I was a teenager.

They stopped Hydroschink, but started production again. They also send it to Europa!

Hello Gentleman, i am brand new to this forum. and so far it looks like it is filled with tons and tons of useful information. I am currently working with some HydroShrink, and had a few questions if any might be able to assist me I would be greatly appreciative. First off, I am attempting to take a 6inch Figurine head and reducing it to a 3 3/4 figurine head. My questions are this.
if i reduce the amount of water and increase the amount of HS would the finished product be bigger than Half the ratio size?
also, with the dish soap to reduce the air holes? how much of this do you use?
and do i mix it in with the water then do HS or is it after the combination.
Again.. any and all info would be helpful.. thank you
K1

Hello, and welcome. As for reducing 6 to 3.75, that's doable. Using a little bit less water can get a bigger finished product, but Hydroshrink is quite unpredictable. I don't know about the soap. Also, you can cast the head before it's fully shrunk. With the reduction you're looking for, the proportions will most likely have corrected themselves by the time the head is down to 95mm If you check the video above, you can see how the shrunken item goes through some awkward stages, proportionally speaking... cheers, best of luck - now model some 87th scale cars!

thanks.. i noticed the change int he video and I noticed in the first few runs of the shrinking.. i have molded a few at the stage i like them to be at, but they still have some of that awkwardness.
Again to everyone who posted here.. this thread has helped me considerably.. thank you all..

Very important that you mix it very carfully with a flat thing. And when you pour it in the die, notice that no unmixed rests go in!

Hi everyone ! First time poster here. Question : Is there anyone here who would like to make some money hydroshrinking a Code3 Collectable fire engine for me ? If interested or have any questions, you can either reply on here or pm me. Thanks in advance ! R.

Can I pour a naphtha laden RTV mold around a hydroshrink master? I may need to have multiple srhinking stages and I would like to leave out as many intermediate steps as possible.
