Back in the 50's, in my teens, I worked at a hobby shop in Glendale called Vanco's hobbies. This was during the time when AMT put out those neat 3 in 1 kits of the new cars of the time. AMT also put out a built up version with a friction motor in it. One summer the owner of the shop decided to have a car model contest. We had over two hundred entries by the time the contest closed. A professional car painter that we knew was asked to do the judging for us. Being the devil that I am, I slipped one of the factory built models into the contest. It got down to the final judging and my ringer was still in the contest. I reached over and grabbed it saying it was being disqualified. The judge looked at me and wanted to know why as he thought it might be the winner. I showed him by pushing it working the friction motor. Did his face turn red. I guess the guys in my neck of the woods just were not the great model builders like we see today.

Proudly, I gave my best friend that lives several hours from me, the address of a site he could see a 4x4 that I had made. He emailed me, said he liked it and especially the wench (merely a typo, I'm sure) on the front. I packaged up the little truck and sent it to him after adding a Prieser nude woman glued to the hood.
