Also, the 1/72nd scale market is quite focused on toys - scale toys, but still toys. We are talking 2 euro-models here, sold through mass-merchandise outlets rather than specialized hobby Dear Marc: In all, the 1/72 Hongwell/Yatming that I have in my collection were purchased at a hobby store. No one,at the Los Angeles area, besides that store who sold these items, stocked them. No Wal Mart,Toys R Us,Target or K Mart offered the 1/72 scale Hongwell-Yatmings. Nick K

Dear Sirs:
Fruits of my on-going inventory.
I did bought these and the 99 cent stores; made by Funrise, these trucks are highly detailed and all plastic and to scale. Details include casted rear-view (and very breakable) mirrors, separate steering wheels and detailed interior. My example is a Mercedes-Benz truck with Eurocab markings; if I remember well, a Ford truck is also part of this series and there is a whole variety of these. Hence, these can be a good example for conversions. Too bad that is 1/72;these would look good as a simple model with high detailing possibilities in 1/87. The wheels seem correct, too.

Just purchsed a 1:72 scale Morgan Plus 8 on eBay. I only got it so that I can scavenge the spoked wheels for another project, I hope that those rims won't be too big for a 540K. It's a nice looking model, too, by XToys, whoever that is.

Dear Sirs:
Well, finally it happened: Wal Mart is selling the 1/72 scale Hongwell/Yat ming/Shuco and these retail at $ 1.44 each. I got the BMW 5 series; that item is to my eyes just amazing. Previously, in the Los Angeles area, these could only be found at the RoundHouse Hobby Store. Now I guess that they are avaliable elsewhere.

Dear Sirs:
New from Yat Ming,1/72 Scale: Dodge Magnum R/T. Since Wal Mart has this line,I may find it in there.
Some of these are damaged item.I wanted this Audi Wagon, but its wheels were loose and there was a 'loose' sound on its box. I left it,and I could not find another.Next time.

Dear Sirs:
Wal Mart still have the Yat Mings but they are the minority and I did not located their Magnum.Later on. Since the boxes were not in top condition,I suspect that once this batch is sold,no more will be in stock.

Dear Sirs:
The 1/72 scale models from Hongwell have the half-window down featura.I consider their BMW (which has the above-mentioned feature) a very realistic item.

Hi all: I located the deluxe 1/72 model of a Sunwin trolleybus (for Beijing in China) at Pete's Model Garage. It is a bit pricey at $34 + $7 postage in the USA; but, I am a sucker for trolleybuses.
You can get other model cars, trucks by mail at
Pete's Model Garage 5 Precinct Street - unit #5 Lakeville, MA 02347
No website yet. e-mail him at
petesmodelgarage@comcast.net
to see if he has what you need.

I'll throw 2 cents in here. I bought 2 Schuco Mini Coopers (classic style) off eBay. Advertised as 1/87 HO. Upon recieveing them, it was obvious that they were not 1/87, but 1/72, just by looking. I was, however, dissapointed to see the Schuco label on the box read clearly 1/87 scale. They ended up as parts cars (nice grill/bumper mounted driving light bars and decent wheels). I did buy a 12 car Schuco set of 1/72 cars, and gave them to my 2 year old son. Despite the very hard play (understatement) they endure, they hold up better than Hotwheels and Matchbox cars. Why? 1- No flimsy axles like HW or MB 2 - 1/3 the weight of a MB or HW. The paint has yet to chip on one of the 12 cars. If they get dropped, they weight very little, and the impact does no damage, not even on a hard ceramic floor. I am impressed. None of the small plastic headlight/taillight lenses have fallen out, and all the windshields are intact and not even cracked. I figured they be broken in a week.
