I guess I started a kit (and with a view to finishing it to boot!). You can tell that I appreciate Kaisers: One of the few finished pieces of mine on the website is the Greg's Garage interpretation. Now on to the new Sylvan kit, which captures the prototype very well. Just the right amount of sober bulbousness. Now, before I cut something off that in the end I might have to put back on again I'd like to hear your opinion on the rear lights. So far, I could not find a '47 prototype (either Special or Custom) with a pair of rear lights on each side like on the model. They all seem to have only one per side. Are the lower squares not rear lights after all? Or did I just not find the right prototype yet? 80% of car photos seem to be 3/4 front views ...

Christian, The lights are correct, as both the Kaiser and Frazer models for 1947 have two lights on either side. The top light is the stop light; the lower light is a back-up light. Christian, you need not remove them and then be sorry.

The Sylvan piece is a nicely proportioned and well cast model. I cannot find any 47 (48 or 49 Kaiser's with the two lenses on each side. Perhaps it was an upgrade, when the 6V electrical system was changed which happened quite frequently with these late 40's vehicles.

My information source and photos are to be found on pages 213 and 214 from the book, " Cars of the Fascinating 40s " , published by : Publications International, Ltd, 7373 North Cicero Avenue, Lincolnwood, Illinois 60712. Copyright 2002 and ISBN: 0-7853-6274-6. Now, having said all this, I see on page 212 a assembly line photo of vehicles with one light on each rear fender. Kaiser and Frazer was known to make some changes mid year , and so Chester , you may be correct with your assumption.

I've tried to find some pictures too, and it's true that you mainly found pictures of cars with only one rear-light on each side. Beside, '47 ads shown only cars with only one rear light too

That's an interesting car Peter, notice that the air conditioner is an after market piece. It says 'Kaiser Fraser Parts Corporation'.
