Hi all: Won on eBay a 1955 Packard Caribbean convertible in the loud 3-tone paint job. Creamy white upper half, pink and grey lower stripes. Snazzy . And, as usual with Franklin Mint, great detal including a chassis underneath. The only problem with it is that it is in 1/24th scale. I didn't think I'd ever own one of these expensive models but it went for about 20% of new 1980 price at the auction and I was lucky to get it. If Dave Johnson turns these out in 1/87 as is his intention, I'll have to make a dealership out of them. Swamp Daddy

Yes, after 2+ years of hibernation my Packard project is awake again. After adding more of the trim I will post photos in the in progress area of The Workbench.

I'll get a photo of the one I got soon and post it. In this era when you wanted to show off you bought one of these big cars to drive; and, sent the wife to the store to pickup the groceries in that cheap Cadillac you had before you "moved up" to a Packard.
Alas, the era has passed; but, excellent models like this keep it alive.

go here for some info: 139" or 135" wheelbase depending on which model it is and you could scale most other dimensions right off the photo using that one measurement. www.packardclub.org/html/1913reference.htmSwamp Daddy PS-if I run into other information I'll let you know. Depending on how good your English is you might want to Google Packard and see what you can find.

Thanks for the information Harry!!!
The (R&L) model finally is a Type 18 from 1912. A Landaulet and the scale is about 1/96. Too small but usable!

Hi: National Motor Car Co. (if I recall the name right) makes a bunch of 1/87 Packards in soft metals. All the same year too as I recall.
Someone of the company that makes them posted here recently about taking over another line of model RR stuff. When I have the time I'll poke around in past posts and find this.
In the meantime you can google National Motor Car and see if you don't get a lead to the right place. They might be something you could use.

Dear Harry:
I have a Franklin Mint Checker Marathon and a current Bentley in 1/24 that I just adore; is a pleasure to know that they also molded a Packard. I will look for that one on eBay.
