Hi all
I am trying to customise a Brekina Ford transit into a different livery.
However, I cannot remove the glazing/windows.
Does anyone know how to separate the windows/headlights/taillights from the body without breaking it.
Would like to be able to airbrush the whole body without the windows.
Could anyone assist, please?

Grant, that is nearly impossible to do. Brekina made several models with a casting method that injects the clear and the colored plastic to the mold at the same time. The result is that both parts sort of melt together. I succesfully tried to seperate the glazing on different Brekina models (Opel Rekord C, BMW 2002, Mercedes /8) from the body but mostly by destroying the glazing part. And even that way it isn't easy to do without hurting the body shell. Brekina got a lot of criticism for that from modelers and thankfully they changed back after a few models. Those few models however are very unsuitable for customising. I'm afraid you will have to find a way without disassembling the glazing. Or you can press your luck and try to separate the parts with a sharp knife, some careful lever action and a lot of patience, but the glazing will most probably not survive this unharmed. Neither will the body if you do a wrong move.

Grant, why not try Microscale Micro Mask on the glazing? With a small brush you can easily mask the glazing and then cut to shape. After that you can use your airbrush. When dry, you carefully remove the "mask" by a pair of tweezers.
Good luck

…Brekina got a lot of criticism for that from modelers and thankfully they changed back after a few models… So that's why they have stopped doing models that way? For my part, their models were much better looking, much more precise, as it avoids the inevitable and unrealistic dark lines between the glazing and the body. Too bad, I would say…

That's probably not the main reason they stopped doing so, but I 've heard a lot of moaning about those models from the modelers. Brekina changed back about the time they invented the Top Decoration models, and it has probably to do with printing and painting options. It could also have to do with increased mold wear or the cost/effort ratio or all of those reasons together. Anyhow, I'm happy they decided to change back, it makes modeling so much easier.

Thanks all,
Looks like I'll have to do some good masking or do a paint brush job.
Thanks for everyone's comments.
