New this month from Blair Line is an HO kit of A-Z Used Cars, an "OK used car dealership. I think I'm going to have to get this laser cut wood kit. www.blairline.com/atozusedcars/

Right on schedule, Blair Line started shipping their A to Z used car lot kit. Got mine yesterday. It looks very good.

Finally got my Walthers Uptown Ford Motors 90% assembled. I am adding braces to the upper edge of the walls in certain areas to then screw the roof in place through false vents. This lets you take the roof off later to replace the lights if anything goes wrong. Or if you want to change the cars in the showroom.
This is a kit that is quite large, 9" frontage, 12" deep, less any parking lot area on any side.
It will be awhile before I finish it as I have to do the lights and roof lockdown points; plus paint some of the interior walls to keep light from showing.

Hi all: I finally acquired my 6th car dealership. A rare model from Smalltown, #6029 Classic & Foreign Car Showroom, no longer being made.
The internet is great for finding items otherwise lost to the collector.
This is a 'semi-kit'; and, by that I mean it is not 4 walls and a roof ready to glue into place. It is a collection of plastic strips and sheets which you glue part by part to build up walls of a more modern look.
An interesting kit which I will enjoy building.
Also on eBay lately I've noted a few of the first type (of many variations issued later) of the Pola car show room - A Mercedes dealership marketed in the US by AHM and later IHC.
Variants of this building are a 'bank' and a 'computer store' as well as different car dealerships.
Car showrooms with their large windows are great for showing off our models.
have fun, Swamp Daddy

Hello All, Back in May 2008, some near 8 years ago now (doesn't time fly?), I kicked off this thread announcing that I was intending to build some car showrooms to display my 87th scale model car collection. The thread created quite a bit of feedback, which I thank everybody for. Throughout the 8 years, I have bought model showrooms, accessories, scenery and cars for the creation of showrooms for the various manufacturers. I have also sold showrooms, scenery, accessories, but not the cars. I have bought again too. I have moved many times and found issues with space in creating a big diorama. However, last year I decided to, at long last, build some models and today, I am happy to present a small, final diorama for my model showrooms. Its a small diorama, which is necessary due to space allowances in my home and not a greatly professional, being a novice at this, construction, but it has produced a pleasing result. I now have a diorama base, which can fit recently built Alfa/Fiat, BMW, Opel, Peugeot and Renault dealerships. I have also built the Import Motors centre from Walthers to provide a centre for Volvo/Saab/Porsche and other foreign cars in the US and a modern/classic US dealership. In addition, I have built an auto repair garage that allows for my more modern collection to be displayed. I am also planning Ford and VW-Audi dealerships to come shortly too. Its taken a long time but the results are now there and quite satisfying. I am happy to share my photos with anyone wishing to view and comment (remember not a professional, so some mishaps occurred on the way to building these). I have just joined photobucket.com and hope I have enabled the right buttons to be pressed to view the finished articles here; s1308.photobucket.com/user/geco65UK/library/DealershipsI am sure people will advise if this does not work and what I need to do to make it work for you. Thank you and sorry for the long wait for the results, Gary s1308.photobucket.com/user/geco65UK/library/Dealerships

Very well done, Gary. I especially like the old-style Import Motors building and cars.

Zed,
Thank you Zed, very kind and thanks for taking the time to feedback.
I liked the Walthers Import Motors Kit, nice to build, though a little fiddly on the window frame painting. I may look to develop the inside, so that the back half looks like a workshop in time.
Perhaps too, when I have completed all other kits - as I say Ford and VW-Audi up next and maybe Mercedes and Citroen in long term - I may buy another Import Centre and build it specific to a US dealership for classic and modern US cars. We will see.
Thanks again, Gary
