I have a question for you more experienced modelers here.
Has anyone ever taken a die cast car or truck apart? I mean, removed the top body from the bottom chassis? If so, could you please share your methods here with me. Thanks in advance!

John,
die-cast models are riveted, you need to drill out the rivets on the bottom plate of the model, then you can take the body off. Almost all car models have two rivets, trucks can have three or more.
Hope this helps.

John, Choose a drill bit that is slightly larger than the rivet Eric talks about. Then drill until the part that is peened (mushroomed) over is gone. The model should then pull apart.

I can't hold a drill that study on a rounded surface like a rivet so out comes the Dremel tool. ;D

Thanks everyone. Those tips really helped. I figured I'd have to eliminate the mushroom/flare of the rivets, and I didn't know how to go about it. I thought about trying to squeeze the flared edge in with a needle nose pliers or something ... that would have been a ton of fun! I'll give the drill bit "bit" a shot. Again, thanks for the help!
