After shaking a spray can of paint, float it in a warm pan of water for a couple of minutes to it reaches around 90-95 degrees Fer. It will spray with a fine mist giving a nice even coat. Also the tips do not clog up nearly as bad. And no, I never had a can blow up on me, but I make sure I can put my hand in the water before I put the can.

I can honestly say that except to paint my mailbox, I haven't used a can of spray paint since I bought my last airbrush.

I have never tried heating up a spraycan but to avoid the nozzle getting clogged when finished painting just turn the spraycan upside down and spray until clean gas comes out. Definately less risky
