Dear Eric,Marc:
The model from Walthers had the modern ( late 1990's) and old-style UPS decals. However, I think that this model was discontinued a while ago.

Nick,
Unfortunately, the Walthers model currently comes with text-only decals. As they say "Reliable Parcel Delivery" and "United Postal Service", cutting and pasting will be a way to get at least "United Parcel Service" on the car. What's still missing is the logo, either the 1990s' one or the new ca. 2003 design without the tied parcel. I know someone makes it, but just cannot think of who it it.
Marc

Dear Marc:
Thank you for the info. I can say that I liked the Walther's painted version and was happy that existed at all.

Truckline's UPS decals have not been listed at their website for a while, and I forgot to ask about these in Dortmund last week. I fear they are sold out. Marc, Or UPS forced them to stop making the set.... Contact me off-list if you are interested in the TL-set, I bought two sheets when they were still available and have a complete sheet to sell. Eric

Today I saw what appeared to be a perfectly legitimate UPS step van with wild orange red and yellow flames on the front third of the van with the UPS logo on the back in the same colors. It was obvious that this was a brand new vehicle. I'm quite puzzled, either someone spent a great deal of money on a very expensive joke, or UPS is changing their image drastically. Another time I wish the camera was handy.

Your UPS van should be staying in the same area. The driver is usally assigned the same truck and the same route each day. Take your camera next time you go that way and get us a picture. This I have to see. ;D I have a feeling that UPS would like to see it also

I have done everything that I can think of to pull up the first picture. Even retyped the site in. I can not pull up a picture. The second picture is fine.

Dear Sirs:
If I am not wrong, the UPS stepvan model with flames was made to promote their involvement on NASCAR racing. And yes, I do have the model of their racer, and no,it is not 1/87.

I have done everything that I can think of to pull up the first picture. Even retyped the site in. I can not pull up a picture. The second picture is fine. For me it works properly. The "(copy and paste)" doesn't belong to the link! I just posted that because a direct link is not possible. But I think the van in the first picture isn't a real UPS van. It's just for the look of such a kind of vehicle. I once even saw a top-chopped UPS delivery van, also with flames on the front and some kind of chrome sportscar wheels. The rest of it was still in it's original livery including the logo. But that was a private show car...

It was similar to the first pic, but the flames went past the drivers door and it was another step up in size. I am going to make a conserted effort to remember my camera when I leave the house next time. So many things missed. I also saw a perfect '65 Pontiac Catalina today I would like to have a pic of.

Regarding the last ten posts:
NASCAR does weird things to people...
It also reminds me of Fords series of Transit racers and of the Renault Espace F1.

Now, if I had a proper set of decals.... Marc ... and if we could persuade our dear friends in Viernheim to make a nice Grumman Olson stepvan to go with them... Bill C.
