Any ideas on how to bend metal kits back into shape? I was just preparing an Alloy Forms Buick for my vacuforming article as I noticed that the roof and the pillars were slightly drawn to one side. The kit is quite solid, I don't know if hot water or something like that would work...

What?…what?… an article about vacumforming? As an answer to my question about how to glaze models which have no windows? Many thanks! And with a 1949 Buick as example? Many thanks again! But sorry, I don’t know how to bend pewter.

That's most reassuring. Anyone want to propose anything involving a hammer? I don't dare. Glazing: yes, that's going to be the article we discussed earlier.

If I remember correctly pewter can be bent to some degree. Do NOT use a hammer as you can not control the force. Something like a wheel puller should work. This is a threaded device that either pushes or pulls as you turn the threads.

I bought a whitemetal Triumph TR-7 (Walldorf) that the seller mailed in a plain envelope. The roof was mostly flat when I got it, and I still haven't dared trying to straighten it.

This metal from Alloy Forms is very forgiving. I have had luck bending on the FIRST try, but do not try to bend a second time if you go past the point at which you want to be. The first bend has set a stress point in the metal and we all know what happens when you flex metal back and forth, don't we?
