About the Marks models…yes, they are really very expensive, but why buying a Ford T for $44 (Micron-Art), when you can have a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost for only $4 more? ;D Ha-Ha! But seriously, you could have a Wiking RR Silver Shadow for neaarly $40 less... It's a good thing that prices of our models don't reflect the prices of the originals.

Please correct me if I'm wrong... There are a few accounts about what actually happened: One says Ford applied for membership in Selden's group of licensees and was turned down; another says one of Ford's business partners told Selden's group to take their patent and go to h***. In any event, Ford refused to pay the royalty and Selden sued in 1903. The case dragged on for years and finally turned on the fact Selden had never actually built the car described in his patent, which Selden, being a clever attorney, had expanded and made as broad as possible. The court ordered Selden to build the car, which worked only briefly. Expert testimony showed no vehicle currently being manufactured was based on the Selden design and the broad interpretation of the patent was ruled invalid in 1911. Ironically, by the time the patent was ruled invalid, Selden had already formed his own automobile company. The first Selden car was produced in 1907 and nearly 7,500 were produced before the company shut down in 1914.

The company Dyna Model Products (located in Sangerville, Maine - Chester should really have mentioned these guys) made the following three pre-war cars that I am aware of:
#2001 1914 Stutz Bearcat #2002 1908 Buick #2003 1911 Maxwell
These painted white-metal kits are all out of production, but my local hobby store has two of each available at $9.35 each. They also have a few of the 1947 Ford Pickup (#20061), but this is also available through Walthers. The company is mentioned on this website as having been founded in 1978, I do not know if they are still in existence.

I didn't know Dyna Model made vehicles except for a forklift I saw once. I knew of them mostly for structures and barnyard animals (I believe they even had a 1-87 skunk at one time!) And I have no idea where Sangerville is.

Last week on Ebay several of the unbuilt kits sold for approx. $20.00 each.
The last contact I had with Dyna Model Products was 2 years ago. At that time he said he was developing a web site, as of today's date I have not seen one.
The company originally was located in Oyster Bay, N.Y. (Long Island) then moved to Patchogue, N.Y. (Long Island)before moving to Sangerville, Me. which is located approx. 5 miles from Dover-Foxcroft.
At last contact, this company was still owned by the son of the original owner.

Dyna Models was in business back in the '50's. It must have been the dad. They went dorment for a while then started up again with some of the old and a bunch of new products. Must have been the son. The early products were sold in little white boxes with red or black lettering. I remember a farm wagon among other things. They were white metal castings of fair quality.
The painted versions of the vehicles were only offered for a short time by the son.

Another forgotten manufacturer of cars of 1900 or so in 1/87th scale: Minialuxe. These are models from the 60’s, absolutely impossible to find now I think. There is 4 models listed in the 1/87th scale website, like the Clément-Bayard 1912 or the Delaunay-Belleville, and I only have seen pictures of them. Does anyone of you have some of these? Do you know if other models were manufactured?

Dear Sylvain:
This info is according to the book Classic Miniature Vehicles made in France,by Edward Force (there are photos from the vehicles):
Minialuxe 101 1911 Delaunay-Belleville rust red body Minialuxe 102 1913 Muller Yellow cab Minialuxe 103 1912 Clement-Bayard light gray Minialuxe 104 1839 Hills Locomotive yellow body Minialuxe 105 Isotta-Fraschini apparently not issued Minialuxe 106 Bugatti Royale apparently not issued.
As I stated, the book has pictures from 101-104,but as always,I do not have camera or scanner, otherwise I would gladly send a picture to you.Alas, based on this book and Alzema's model cars of the world (publ. 1967) I will issue a list of french HO vehicles on vehicles on 1/87 thread, altough not right now.Keep posted, tough. Some interesting vehicles were issued in HO by French Manufacturers.

Dear Nick,
Many thanks for this list of Minialuxe models on 1/87 scale. Don't bother about the pictures for me, I have some and I know what these 4 models look like. I just wanted to know if there was more.
Thanks again

Below is an item from the 1973 Ahm Catelog for a series of early 20th century vehicles. Has anybody seen these....the "Harbutt's Replicar Series"? I aquired this catelog directly form AHM in 1973, on the top of the page written in red pen ink is: "Discontinued". Pretty neat items, were they ever produced?

A bunch of them, including the Olds, were just recently on Ebay.de. Apparently they were also sold under the "Snapperroo" name.
