It looks like MGA Entertainment will be the new owners of Majorette and Solido. The privately-owned, California-based toy company, best known for the "Bratz" dolls, is said to be very close to buying Smoby Majorette, which is France's largest toy company.
Smoby Majorette is currently in bankruptcy reorganization in the French courts after losing 17.6 million euros in 2006.

I dont' know where Majorette's are made now; but, if not already there I assume any further toys will now be made in China if Bratz-MGA entertainment gets them.

It seems that it's a trend to send production to China, these days. A lot of British firms have done so. The management of these firms claim that it is to "cut costs". I reckon that it's because they want to boost profits. There was a time when Hornby, a well known manufacturer of model railways in the UK were falling on hard times, and so invested what they had in transferring production to China. Nowadays, all I read about is Hornby's aquisition of several european manufacturers. (Jouef in France, Lima and Rivarossi in Italy, and more recently Electrotren in spain) At least with all this profit-funded "empire building", they are not trying to impose OO scale outside the UK!!!

It's almost a done deal: the major shareholders of Smoby Majorette have agreed to sell their shares to MGA. The deal now just needs approval from Smoby's board, creditors and the courts and, since MGA has agreed to provide financing to cover Smoby's working capital, that will probably happen fairly quickly.

Dear All:
At Wal Mart, there are vehicles from the MGA oufit: models of imagination, promoting such and such movie.
I hope that the 200 and 300 ranges from Majorette goes on. The new models for 2006/2007 includes a Nissan Murano and a Toyota Prius, among other French cars.

The Nissan is bought by Renault, built in Europa but it still is a Japanese car! As is the Toyota even with the coproduction with PSA-Group! Cor.

Dear Cor: My bad.I should have said ==plus a selection of French Cars, such as Renault or Peugeot (the current French Vehicles which only Majorette and Norev offers in three inch. One of the reasons why I like both manufacturers - they offer unique models, and in 1982,that was a plus for Majorette). As I stated, true wishes for the 200 and 300 series of Majorette. They are as the Matchbox 1-75 series (and were based on that). Nick K
