I began collecting Dinky many years ago. All that I have are MIB. There are several UK military pieces they did and I cannot find info on the prototypes to see if they are 1-87, but the seated figures would represent about a 6 foot tall 1-87 figure. Any ideas as to how many of these old Dinkys are 1-87?

Dear Sirs:
I have two of the Dinky OO series and the Austin? truck is one of these.Hey,it looks fine around the other 1/87 trucks;hence is there where I put it. These items are impossible to find.
Incidentally, the oldest item that I have is Dinky's Standard Vanguard. If I am not wrong, that was made at the early 1950's or earlier.

The oldest Dinky I have is nowhere near 1-87 it is called a Reconnaisance car and I am led to believe it is pre-war. As I say, I cannot verify scale on these pieces, but just judging from the wheel/tire sizes and the accompanying figures, they are very close. 2 in particular, the Austin Champ jeep and what I believe is a Bedford Ambulance are the specific ones I think are close. You are right about the price too. They have become very expensive. On an auction site (not ebay), I have seen sets of 6 or so vehicles sell in the high hundreds $ !

Dear Chester:
My other favorite is their 1976 Plymouth Fury,on a racing attire. Get this: I got this for $5.00 ( plus the box! ) fifteen or so years ago. This bad boy went once for $60.00 or so at eBay last year, and it was an opened model!
By the way: do you have the Carpenter Scholl Bus? If so,that is a $300.00 minimum! That piece I want,but................
I am an avid Dinky Toys collector but due to their pricing, everything I can do is to glance at them. Yet I also got some of their (expensive now) buses and trucks as well.

Dear Chester:
Thank you.
I have a partial list of the Dinkys;I will do their listings at the appropiate topics. I believe that most of these were 1/43's; there were the 'dublos' ? and these were 1/76; and there was a series of Hong-Kong made 1/64 cars. The buses that I have are the AEC Routemaster and these worth three times more than I paid for them.
