Anyone who builds scenes for their vehicles will sooner or later build a model of a gas station to show off his collection in and around it. So this thread is started with the idea of collecting photos of gas stations and their details to help with the modeling. I'll start it off with some old photos that I have found. This is probably the simplest but has a lot of detail. Notice the white bottom of the power pole in the back ground. That was very common back then when there wasn't any curbs or sidewalks. Love the outdoor lift in this one. Yes, they really did that. Note the three different types of pumps at the island. Detail, detail, detail........ I remember seeing a gravity pump still in service in the early 50's, so mixing the pumps seems to be ok. Here is one that has been "saved" and on display at the Los Angeles Farmer's Market. Note the neon used on the sign board

Great photos Lee. Nice to see the restored one. Don't know if I'd want to use the rest rooms here but the signage is great.

Here is an interesting piece that I found on the internet: "Pictured above: A full scale replica of a 1915 Shell Company gasoline station. Designed from a picture in a gasoline collectable book, my father and I built it from scratch, the hardest part being the window frames. The pumps are genuine gasoline pumps of the era, and our Shell station is constructed to allow it to be unbolted and moved. The actual gas stations were built in San Francisco California, and were first seen at the Panama Pacific International Exposition. They were built in kit form then shipped all over the United States. Many early Shell Company maps show their gas stations on the cover. "
