Looking at only87's website ( singular.piranho.de/), I noticed more images, including a new Hino project - very cool! Hino trucks are quite common here in the northeast, but I've never seen anything in 1/87 before. But what really tickled my fancy was the Renault 30 images... What is it based upon? Tell me/us more please! ;D The wheels (Wiking Opel Manta?) look very suitable, I may use the same on an R5 I have been planning.

The Renault is based on the Jouef one. I haven't one left in the original state, but here's a picture: www.joueftrains.com/images/Renault_30_blue.jpgI purchased it in my first days of ebay from a french seller without knowing what I bid on. I got 2 Renault Fregate and a Peugeot 403 from Cadum Pax and several MPC cars with it. I didn't know what a Renault Fregate was back then and I didn't know of Cadum Pax aswell. I was focussed on the Renault 30. I only knew the one from Focus. So what could be Jouef? 24valve didn`t list it, the Yumeko page either. After receiving the package I was very disappointed of it. But the Renault Fregate looked good. I started searching for the real thing and this is how I began modelling my first resonable car. After observing the Jouef car a hundred times I recognized the Renault in it. Well, at least it's made out of plastic... one could work out... A few hours later (after scratching, cutting and bending) it looked quite right. Then I added bumpers, got the windows shape right and did some paint work. The car stayed in this condition for about two years. Meanwhile my interest grew in 1-87 cars and Norev reedited some of their car models. That was the point I began collecting (mainly Renault and other french artisans) and the R 30 came back to my mind. So I looked out for wheels that might match and finally found some. I got them from an Wiking Opel GT (but you're right, the Opel Manta and the Ford Capri have the same). Few days ago, I started to build up a bottomplate from scratch an fitted it with an interior from a Brekina Golf. I removed paint and reworked some details. That's the story up to now. Some details still dissatisfy me, but this won't be much work any more. Finally, it will be painted in metallic green. Abot the Hino: I found it at a swap meet, I didn't know about about a plastic version either. But it's not correctly 1-87. I consider it to be about 1-100. The pictures show my effort to bring it to 1-87 scale. It was the only one the seller had, and he couldn't tell me anything about it. Surprisingly I met him at another swap meet on Sunday and after recognizing me, he just pulled out some more of them and told me he found them at home. Among them where Hinos, Nissans, Isuzus, a fire tender and two Siku copies (A Scania conventional and Mercedes truck). I think they're all copied from some diecast toys. I purchased two Nissans, another Hino and an Isuzu. The second Hino will be converted to an North American delivery truck you were talking of. But I won't start on that until the other one is completed (for comparison purpose). Your Renault 5 project sounds very interesting to me. I have one going on too. Well better call it snailing on... Do you use the Miber Turbo as a basis as well, or are you building one up from scratch?

Yes, the Miber Turbo will work as a base. I got a whole pile of Mibers from an austrian who only collected emergency vehicles and had bought the lot for one (1) ambulance, which included three R5's. Yum. Sadly it also included six 348s, which are too rare to throw away, but too clumsy to do anything with.
Regarding the R5, I was going to make it a five-door - but I'll make it a three-door if we're clashing. ;D I'm thinking that supplying the Wiking rims with smaller tires should do the trick.
And the R30 looks amazing, excellent work! And so does the Espada, can't wait to see the finished project!

The Espada still has a long way to go and it's a "side project" of mine, so don't be too impatient... I wanted to do a 3 door R 5 first. The 5 door remains a future project for me (or even futuristic?). For the Ferarris: You just have to find a clumsy car transporter --> problem solved!

only87,
About the Renault 30, nice work! I’ve had once this model, with 5 other in a Jouef car career. Amazing to see what you have been able to do with it! These Jouef’s models (second set) are so crude.
About the Renault 5, I think there was one among the Jouef’s models.

I am looking at my unmodified Jouef Renault at this moment - I can say that yours is brilliantly reworked! Sadly it also included six 348s, which are too rare to throw away, but too clumsy to do anything with. Haha ... why can't we have the Aston Lagonda or the Honda City in such quantities? I got 20 or so RR Camargues.

I liked the Renault 30 as well.It was very well redone.
By the way:it is difficult to get the Jouef model? When that was done?

By the way:it is difficult to get the Jouef model? When that was done? It’s a model from the 80’s, may be still done in the 90’s. I’m not sure, as I know Jouef’s cars careers were available without cars from many years now. I suppose you can find it on eBay, at least eBay France, under Jouef title. Try in French with "voitures", "transport de voiture" or "wagon STVA", most of the time this model is sold with other cars.

Dear Sylvain:
Thank you;I will look for these.Up to now-for me at least-Lima,Jouef and Rivarossi were train manufacturers. Now,to my joy, they made cars as well.

Nick As you know, Lima+Jouef+Rivarossi are melt in a single company since 1 or 2 years = Rivarossi It would be so nice if they could start a new serie of cars for their Car transporter?

Dear JeanMarc:
Athearn did it,and they were sucessful. It will be a good ideia if Rivarossi molds ( a better model) of the Renault 30,plus other of their classics.

At least no other manufacturers have made the Camargue, the 348 was made by Wiking and Herpa as well. Does anyone know of a good foundation for a Renault 14?

It will be a good ideia if Rivarossi molds ( a better model) of the Renault 30,plus other of their classics. Stanhas87, Jean-Marc I won’t be to be optimistic about it. Lima/Rivarossi has already too much trouble with manufacturing model trains to start working on HO scale automobiles. But that’s another story. About Jouef’s Renault 30, I’ve seen on 87thscale website that it has been first released in 1976. Skunk, I don’t know any model of the Renault 14. Another not very popular French car. Do you know this car is sometimes considered as the French Edsel?

It took a while to get the right color but finally it is painted. I added a picture of the test painted body and a first picture of my Jouef Simca 1100 conversion on my little site.
