It must be a kit, would anyone allow an original to get in that condition (ripped seats, chipped paint on front end) ? I wish I could find one , did you keep it?

Haha! Look at the size of the wheels for one thing. If that "Bug" isn't powered by an aircooled flat four I will be most surprised.

Chester, no, I didn't keep it as it wasn't an original. You guys are right. The kit was bought in 1969 and put on a VW chassis in 1972. The engine is in the rear. In fact there is a funny story the owner told me about it last night. While he was up in Oregon, a gentleman was looking at the vehicle and asked to see the engine. The owner said he would be glad and opened the hood and showing the guy the battery while telling him it was really an electric powered vehicle. Surprised, the guy said he had heard it run and it sure sounded like it had a gasoline engine. The owner replied "Isn't digital sound wonderful!" He did show him the engine in the rear after having his little laugh.
