Anyone want to guess what a Moreland is? Yes, it is a real vehicle. ;D It is the type and kind that I would like to see produced in 1/87th. Only in my dreams will this happen.

Dear Lee:
According to the Nick Georgano's Encyclopedia of Commercial Vehicles,Moreland was a US truck manufacturer witch stood in business between 1911 to 1941 in Burbank,California.I am doing a list of Buses, and it seems that this manufacturer did a double-decker in 1924;I like it.I also hope that models come foward;I like to collect obscure makes.
Hubley did produced the Cook Brothers Cement Truck;but it is a pain to find info of this make on the Internet. The latter were Moreland's purchasers in 1949,by the way.
Hence,it is a make to remember.

I have found that most of the 200 + truck manufactures in the US during the teens and twentys used a lot of the same base parts. Only minor variations such as vents in the side panels of the hood made them different. The main idea back then was to get a truck built for the local market using whatever was available. Long distance transportation was by rail and communication was by letter or telegraph so buying a truck from a distant manufacture was very not practical. About the only truck with a distinct style was the Mack. I am using the Roskopf and Roco trucks to make copies of various US styles.

Dear Lee:
Do you think that the publishers of 'Wheels of Time' could be of any assistance? I try to find info on Cook Bros. truck in there, but I had no luck.

I am a member of ATHS and am thinking of getting all the back issues available. If anyone has the info, it would be in their library.

Dear Lee:
I knew that the name Moreland was familiar to me and I know:they were active bus producers, and Several pre-MTA companies had these on their fleets until the end of the 1930's.Their Double-Decker was well equipped, with air brakes at the four wheels,no less, and that by 1924!
