Nick & others: It was sure nice to see the "Reel Rides" series is under way at last. When they will appear in my city is a different question. I signed up at the web site for news.
The list of movie cars is endless. How about the yellow and black Rolls Royce that was in a bunch of 60s-70s movies including Mrs Marple if I recall correctly. And, remember that silly movie (air force guy in spain as I recall) where some guy won the "Batmobile". It was a tricked up Lincoln if I recall right -- memory on that one is fading.
And, if you really want a silly stretch, how about that car that the Keystone cops had. The one that was the "after" car (about 2 feet wide) when they always got sandwiched between 2 streetcars.
So, let's hear about your favorite movie car! Aside of the three light-hearted examples I gave I'll be more serious in a future post on this topic.

The Batmobile was built from the Lincoln Futura show car.
Favorite movie car? Either the Lexus from "Minority Report" or the Audi from "I, Robot."

For me it's not a "movie car" but a "car Movie". In the 1963 flick "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" its about the cars in the movie. Here is a list of some of the cars in the move, 1957 Ford Fairline 500 2 door, 1962 Plymouth station wagon, 1962 Imperial convertible, VW convertible, 1954 Ford van truck, 1962 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible (Jerry Lewis), an old 1948-50 Ford Pickup, a Willys (Jeep) wagon, 1947/48 Ford convertible, an M37 Dodge 3/4 ton military truck (converted to a wrecker), a 1920's Maxwell (Jack Benny), 1959 Plymouth taxi-cabs (at least 3 of them), 1962 Dodge Polara 500 convertible, 1961 Chevrolet Impala sport coupe, 1956 Ford Victoria convertible, and 1962 Dodge and Plymouth police cars. It's amazing how many of the cars they smash. If I left any out or got some wrong let me know. Jack

Mr. Bond's BMW Z8 from "The world is not enough". I hate to see it being cut in the middle.

The '74 Monaco sedan in "The Blues Brothers", or maybe Mad Max's car.
Both my brother and father had '74 Monaco four doors, but theirs were hardtops.

Dear All:
I seriously hope (but I do not know, perhapswill not happen) they do not forget the Police and Unmarked Cars which appeared in the movies. My personal favorite,Dodge Monaco 1977,appeared even on a James Bond movie (and its dealt with);so did the Diplomat and Saint Regis (but these had not been done yet) along several other movies. And of course, the uncointed amounts of Chevrolets,LTDs and other Fords and so on.I hope that these will not be forgotten.
On the movie 'Convoy',one see different types of AMC Matadors on a single scene (some with grilles I never seen before);on the the movie 'Smash-up on Interstate 5,Several Coronets 1975 (CHP Badge) can be seen and even a Polara is part of the accident;Blue Brothers, which had an immense amount of Dodge Monaco 1974 going to the big Parkway in the Sky (plus the car which was Central to the action);the re-make of the fugitive was the first movie I saw with the final generation Caprice (dealt with in HO) and when the Diplomats will be thinning out of the movies. And so on. Oh,yes,if someone is wondering:Diplomats appear on the Bond Movie 'Licence to Kill' (1989);a single Saint Regis does too, following the Van which had the Drug Dealer in it (when the van falls in the ocean,it can be seen stopping, and as its door opens, one can see the frameless window).
On another hand, the Dodge Monaco 1974 may be one the next ones to appear.

Might see the Bluesmobile in the Reel Rides line. "Blues Brothers" was a Universal release. However, if it is released, it will probably be decorated as the Bluesmobile. One warning before anyone gets their hopes up, though; a Bluesmobile was released in at least one larger scale and Corgi did the 1974 Dodge in 1/50 scale.
"Convoy" not so likely; it was released by United Artists. Bond films are also MGM/UA and have very active licensing.

Dear Bill:
ERTL did the first Bluesmobile in the 1980's,on near 1/50 scale.Playing Mantis/Johnny Lightning also molded one in the 1990's (and the casting was offered in several ways).Modern castings include the 1/18 scale version and the Corgi Model.

Sure, it's a Mad, Mad, Mad World has lots of cars (and, it's one of my favorite movies). But, you guys know a big shopping list of cars gets no attention. And, "movie" cars usually are the one important car belonging to the hero or the villan. If you want every car in a movie try Barnaby Jones (where they only drove Fords, even the bad guys; and, darn near every car on the street was a Ford).
What an assortment would be!

PS-also the Villans got a trick car in that recent Bond movie, "Die Another Day", a set of both cars would be interesting.

Chester,
Speaking of ambulances, the caddy hightop from Mother, Juggs and Speed or the Chevy van ambulance from the same.

I love the Honda Z Coupé in the Australian movie Malcolm. It splits in the middle during an amazingly badly filmed getaway scene, this then allows the two halves to escape down a narrow alleyway. When it's split in half, somehow the wheels move inboard - clear evidence that the moviemaker had simply placed two half Honda bodyshells atop two scooters... One of the worst movies ever made, I think.
Kyosho made a really nice 1:64 James Bond Aston Martin V8, but I don't imagine that they will ever get into 1:87.
And I guess that mentioning Steve McQueen and Le Mans is almost like cheating?

My favorite movie car is the primer gray '55 Chevy from Two-Lane Blacktop: www.imcdb.org/movie_67893-Two-Lane-Blacktop.htmlIt is the same car that was later painted black and used in American Graffiti driven by Harrison Ford. Actually there were three cars built for the movie, one got rolled over in American Graffiti, the two others survived until today. My favorite truck is from a German flick called Theo Gegen Den Rest Der Welt (Theo against the rest of the world), a bonneted 1980 Volvo N12 in factory livery and a very rare sleeper cab that he very soon looses in the movie and tries to get it back all of the rest.
