Just got back from a great day at the Expo. Jerry and I got to meet Bill C from Texas, Trip from Truckstop, his wife and kids, Bob Johnson from 1-87 V&E, Zed from the 20-30s, and many others. Took lots of pictures which I will be sending out shortly. Bill said he is taking pictures also and will send to Eric. Eric may post any of the pictures in the website. ;D The Ricko line is better than good. It's GREAT They had a limited, numbered edition of 500 copies of the Horch done in lite blue just for the show. (I looked at the number on the bottem of the gas tank last night. It said 294 of 1000. Now I am wondering where the error is.) If there are any left over, I think they will be available from Truckstop Models. Show price was $30.00 each. They are so good that I had to buy not one but three of them. ;D And then there is the models coming out next year. Boy, am I going to be broke.

Dear Sirs:
Went to the model show Sunday,October 23rd. Fascinating,to say the least. Went back home with a five pound bag laden with catalogs and a couple of models were given to me.
Remote control, aircraft and trains were a big issue; m....l r.........g dioramas were elsewhere and these were the biggest ones I ever seen. Plus,is interesting to see the manufacturers from Walthers represent themselves in there. It was a pleasure.
I know the gentleman who runs Boley (thanks to MVU) and he stated that his trucks are his best selling products; alas,Boley, had real trucks on display in there( including a Fire Truck) and this manufacturer had all kind of model and military vehicles on display.
I spoke with the representant from Maisto and they considered to have a line of 1/87 scale vehicles but decided not to. His message was that this manufacturer tries hard to produce quality vehicles despite the good competition from Motormax or Welly.I would believe that if they turned out 1/87 vehicles, these may be good items.
I also saw the representant from 21st Centruy toys and these are the individuals who are selling Model Power models at Wal Mart stores. Not sure if they will go to keep selling vehicles at this scale, but it considered a positive feedback when I told him that their vehicles sold well and at times, the MR people had to contact Wal Mart managers so the store bought these little cars in.
Spoke with the Model Power's people and I they told me that is undecided what model the 1974 Ford will be; yet,the 2005 Ford Crown Victoria will be molded. I just hope that that would look better than the Walthers prototype.
Finally had the pleasure to meet Bill C who explained the upcoming Ricko's schedule for me.At 40 models that cost $13.00 a pop plus more to come, there will go may savings account, but hey, these are masterpieces. Some of the 1/18 models such as the 1930's Cadillac are desirable as well.
I also got the Woodland Scenics Catalog and followed the news from severeal manufacturers. What I did liked about this meeting whas the fact that I could ask questions to the manufacturers. Unfortunately,Welly and Motormax were not present, but this is another story.New Ray was there, but these people were packing when I approached them, and his representant was helpful, but no Catalogs because these were packed away. No represenatives from Hongwell or HighSpeed as well.
Schuco Catalogs were given away thanks to the German Air-Cooled store. I met one of their representant some time ago thanks to MVU and I am aware of these folks thanks to this club.
Also saw the Norscot display and the one from Tonkin but I did asked no questions; I let the Catalog from the former to do the talking.
It was overall a very good experience. I just hope that this show comes to Los Angeles on a yearly basis; it was the first meeting of this time that I ever been to and liked evey moment that I spent in there. For the models that I got, this is an issue for another thread.
Sorry,no photos because I do not have a camera.

Nick,
I believe the show alternates between Chicago and LA every year. I believe the LA show was better for vehicle fans this year ,from what is being reported, than last years show.

iHobby Expo will be back at the Stephens Center in Rosemont next year.
Ricko had a very good show. It was nice to meet Nick, Lee and Jerry as well as all the great people from the 20s and 30s Modular Club.
While at the show, Ricko's general manager and I were able to meet with our licensing contacts from Dodge, Ford and General Motors and discuss some future projects. I can also tell you that if things go well, we will have even more exciting products to talk about next year.

Marlon Jerry and I remembered the bit about the show alternating between Chicago and LA so we were looking forward to the show this year. Sad to say when I looked at the ihobbyexpo website, the show will be in Rosemont, Illinois this year.

The Rosemont show is only 45 minutes away from me, so I'll be talking up a storm to all of the reps who will listen! Hopefully, Model Power and others will come through with a couple of more modern vehicles for collectors, and I'll report back to this forum when I get info from the show.

As of now, I will also be at the show, though only for the trade days (sorry, Vito, I'd like to see you again). Actually, I am not sure who (if anyone) will be there officially from Ricko or Masterpiece. I will be there with Model Railroad News, so I won't be able to play manufacturer's rep. On the other hand, I will have my camera and tripod so we'll hope for the best.
