Would there be any interest in building and showing a modular highway layout with Faller moving vehicles? My idea is to make one that represents Route 66 in the late 1950s-early 1960s era. It might also include a railroad by modeling the southwest U.S. where Route 66 closely paralleled the Santa Fe Railway. What do you think? I'm a long-time HO scale railroad modeler with decades of module (portable layouts shown at public venues) experience in southern California. You can see what I've done with car-oriented scenes on my railroad module here: trainweb.org/20s30s/memCH.htmlCharley aka zed

Oh well, it's difficult to get things going. The Route 87 diorama idea seems to be dormant for the past five years. Those standards might be a good start for a Faller setup: www.route87.org/ .

It would be nice for such 'modules' to be displayed somewhere; however, until a group of modelers living close enough to meet and build such modules it may remain a dream. Geography plays a part in all clubs and similar ventures. I had a layout in progress which was destroyed by a flood . Not sure how far along (getting older) on a new layout I will get; but, I intend to use the FCS in some areas and there will be a lot less rail lines on this layout. More buildings, cars and scenery. I had a short trolleybus line using the Brawa/Eheim system of steering on that now destroyed layout. I am still going to retain that overhead on the new layout for powering the buses; but, the Faller Car System will be used for steering allowing the pickup poles on the roof to be located correctly. I have seen one of the Classic Metals 3=axle Greyhound parlor bus of the 50's-60's converted to FCS on YouTube. Plenty of FCS videos there. Maybe some area in California (or other metro area) will have enough interested modelers to make a go of it. With Bachmann and Walthers issuing Route 66 tourist trap models it might be fun to put them on such modules. Have fun, Swamp Daddy
