Greetings! I've been building 1/25, and 1/24 scale models for quite some time. I recently got into the 1/87 realm and really like it! I'm not really into the train layouts, but I do like building mini dioramas. I'm currently working on a '69 Dodge Charger converted from an Opel Rekord. Defining the doors: Using stretched sprue, I'm trying to define the character lines of the door that flow into the scoops. Stay tuned.... There is mention on this board of the possibility of seeing a Dodge Charger released in 1/87 scale, even with this work in progress, I sure hope it becomes available!!!!

While waiting for putty to dry on this project, I threw this together: It needs decals and a little detail painting, but it's a passable rendition of the "Up in Smoke" van.

Bill,
welcome to the forum! Might I ask what prompted your interest in 1/87? Always nice to see bigger scale modellers tackle a project in HO. The Opel is a great starting point for a Charger. A member of the German mo87-forum made the same conversion a while ago. I have resin castings of that one somewhere but can't find them at the moment.

Wow, it looks like you have captured the basic shape and proportions of the Charger. I am wondering how you will handle the recessed scallops in the hood and doors. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Christian asked what the silver car was in the finished projects area. Being a fan of movie cars, I couldn't resist building Gru's car from "Despicable Me". Of course, it will need somewhere to display it. I decided to scratch build his house as well. I'm still waiting on the hobby store to restock the plastic rod I need to do all the exposed pipework on this, so this project is kind of on hold. Here's another back burner project, I haven't quite figured out what I want to do with it. It's almost too big!
