Has anyone removed the printed graphics from a Busch or Athearn vehicle? What suggestions are out there? In particular I'm looking to remove the graphics from Busch ambulances and Athearn fire engines without damaging the paint underneath.

Denatured alcohol dissolves the graphics from Athearn pieces in most cases (not isopropyl). I would imagine it would work with Busch models too. It will not harm the paint jobs bur keep it away from any chrome. Another alternative is to work at them with a pencil eraser. This takes a long time and you can go through the paint so I will use the eraser and then finish up with alcohol.

Thank you for the reply. I'll have to find denatured alcohol now. Is that something I will be able to find at the drug store?

I used to borrow my wifes nail polish remover...if you rub it on with a q tip it will slowly remove the lettering, etc, and it doesnt seem to harm the paintwork.

You will find denatured alcohol at a hardware store.
It is ethyl alcohol (grain alcohol) that has a poison added to make one wretch if they try to drink it, hence the name denatured.

Your also can add it to the water when you have to clean your windows. And to start the fire in your barbeque.
How about using a softener like "Sol" from Microscale?

Microsol (from Microscale) is actually an alcohol based product so I would imagine that would work too.
Denatured alcohol may also be known as Solvent alcohol.

Thank you all for the info. I tried the the dentured alcohol on one Busch ambulance (Mercy Ambulance) and it worked great. Another one (Rural Metro) hasn't touched the graphics. Interesting.
The denatured alcohol went through the base paint on an Athearn fire engine too. Any other suggestions?

Thank you everyone for the advice. I ended up scraping the graphics off with an exacto knife with a curved blade. It did scrape the base paint some, but I'm planning on putting new decals over the area anyhow. I'm very leary of the non-acitone nail polish remover due to marring or removing the paint on the plastic parts of several Boleys.
