Regarding the 1977-82 BMW 3-series:
Was there ever a single headlight version offered with the Alpina-style alloys? I am referring to the multi-spoked wheels with black centers.
Which E21 3-series came with single headlights? Was it the 315/316/318? 320s and 323s usually had doubles I think, but I dont know this for sure.
thank you, Håkan

Håkan,
Here is what I found:
Single headlights 1975-1980 316 1975-1980 318 1981-1983 315 1980-1982 316 1980-1982 318i
Twin-headlights 1975-1977 320 (inline four) 1975-1977 320i (inline four) 1977-1982 320 (inline six) 1978-1982 323i (inline six)

My family had quite an affair with the E21: My dad had that 1977 320 inline-six in very bright green (the neighbour's choice of colour was even more dramatic: a bright yellow 323i!) and there still is a dark-blue 1981 315 in my grand-ma's garage.
As for the Alpina wheels, I think they were aftermarket items available for all engine types. Photos I have show everything from 315 to 323i equipped with simple 13" steel wheels - similar to the ones Herpa mounts on the Golf Mk2 or Wartburg.

I couldn't possibly have asked for a more exhaustive answer, thank you very much. ;D Love this site!
What do you think, should my 316 be equipped with the steels or the alloys?
