I bought one of the new HW Dodge Challengers, and while I found some realism in the rear wheels as a modern custom, I wanted the front and rear wheels to be more proportionate to each other.
The closest in looks was the HW Cayman in which I mangled the base somewhat in getting the rear wheels off (I can still get alot of them on closeout at the local Wal-Mart for $1.00, so I wasn't too sad), and had to somewhat mangle the Challenger base to get it off (more sad, but not noticeable unless you look at the bottom).
The model looks much better with proportionate wheels at all four corners, and the icing on the proverbial cake was widening the tires using black electric tape--the car now looks more like the trend of old muscle cars with modern suspension and modern wheels and tires.
My question is--can the base be removed without mangling it? It doesn't look bad unless you look at the bottom, but can they be removed in a more orderly fashion?

You can take a drill bit and drill out the 2 rivets and the car will come apart then when your finished modify the cars use superglue to put them back together. This is what I do and it works quite well.

I will try the drill bit advice; thank you for that! I just hope that HW's expanded offerings will make it to Yuma!!
