Found these via mo87.de, they seem to be hole punches. They're cheap and available in many diameters (1mm and up to 12mm on other sites), perfect for making round shapes and cutouts. Does anyone know what this tool might be called in English? www.moduni.de/product_info.php/products_id/6332010

Hi , They are called Hollow Punches'. Also known as Hole punches. I have a set that i have used as a mechanic for years. To make holes in gasket material. I use them in my modeling to make every thing from wheel openings to window corners. They are really very useful. Steve D

Thanks Steve, I knew someone here would know. I hope I can get them in metric sizes here, or I'll just have to order them from Germany.

Skunk: Try a "Harbor Freight" if you have one near you for a cheap set of hollow punches.
Also useable at times are the leather punches (which are 6 to 8 sizes of hollow punches on a rotating wheel in a piers assembly). Harbor Freight may have that too. Any leather working store will have them as will the cheap tool section almost anywhere.
Have fun, Harry

Yeah, I ended up getting them from Germany, since no one here offers sizes as small as 1mm, nor in 0.5mm increments. I also purchased a Brekina Lada from them for much less than they cost here, so the hollow punches are essentially free!
