Eric provided a link to Masterbuilt Models in another thread (http://www.masterbiltmodels.com/index.php), and I just wanted to recommend to everybody to go look at their site. In particular the very interesting pages about their McLaren M6A project, one of my all-time favorites.

It is interesting to see more and more of the actual making of the master model being shown on the internet. Even better is the showing that even the best modelers can and do make mistakes at times. A very good and informative website.

It just happens that as I opened the message board just now, I have a Masterbilt Mack Granite transkit in front of me (I model with my computer screen on the same desk). I have recently completed their Vision kit as well. I can only say that if the McLaren M6 and the Indy car are nearly as nicely done, they will be excellent models. I may have said it before but the castings of the truck models are very near perfect and the photoetched stuff is the best I have ever seen. Did I forget to say I like their stuff? I will also add that there is a personnel connection between Lonestar models, Classic Mint Collectables and Masterbilt. Three names in 1/87 that simply reek of quality. Look forward very soon to a high end brass Peterbilt 379 from Classic Mint. Being that there is such a connection I will add to this thread: www.classicmint.com/catalog/pete379_talbert4axle_red.php

Regarding the link provided by Chester above: 500 bones!!! it looks amazing, but... I guess that it is in all actuality a low price, taking into account the amount of labor that went into this, but $500. I hope they sell it.

I'm sure everyone involved would like to make a profit (that's what I'm in business for!) but in conversing with one of the major players in this venture, I came away with the impression that this is an attempt at making the very highest quality 1/87 vehicle. Period. More of a quest really that may end up paying for itself. I applaud the effort, but unfortunately do not forsee a purchase on my part.

They will sell. There are those out there that have both the money and the desire. ;D
