In celebration of its tenth anniversary as a maker of auto models, Busch is having its first-ever Open House in Schönheide next Saturday, September 11. Schönheide is in southern Sachsen (Saxony) about 30 km from Zwickau. This is where Busch has its actual auto model production facilities. There will be factory tours, music and a display of every model Busch has produced. There will also be a special sale of overstocked Busch products. There may also be the world premier of a new model at the Open House. Everyone who pre-registers and attends will receive a free special model commemorating the event. They will also have a chance to win one of ten copper-colored Smart models. For more information and registration, click on the links below: In German: www.busch-modell.de/auto/tuer.htmIn English: www.busch-modell.de/englisch/open_house.htmOn the same weekend, the new August Horch museum opens in Zwickau and Audi has some special events planned. Should be a fun weekend, if you can make it.

I will be there. Anyone else?
Bill, wouldn't that be a good reason to finally make the trip over here? ;-)

Yes, indeed it would. Just like the European Club meet would be a good reason to come in November and Spielwarenmesse would be a good reason to come in the winter. And the chance to meet friends and enjoy good "Wurst und Bier" are good reasons to come anytime. It's just that I have these kids... My oldest son's college tuition for the first semester would more than cover round-trip airfare for my wife and me.

I really wish I had some money... would go in a heartbeat, if only to buy some of the old overstock.
Maybe they're finally presenting the finished Land Cruiser? Or do you think this means an all-new mold?

From what I understand, an all-new model will be unveiled. It should be noted that the announcement of the new model will be contingent on a few things, but Busch was hoping to have everything cleared in time for the Open House.
The Open House might be a good opportunity to find out how things are coming with the Toyota Land Cruiser and the GMC bus.

Dear Sirs:
One modification that could be made to the Busch GMC bus -SCRTD version - was to paint it on the brown livery that was current at the last 1970's and probably when this bus was new. The white, red and yellow livery is being slowly discontinued, bus it was adopted when SCRTD got their brand new GMC RTS in 1980 (a bus that I hope that will be molded by them, too).
They did their homework at the fleet number (3000 series).

As Busch is now talking about two completely new models to be introduced in Schönheide, a sedan and a wagon, I am pretty sure to see the facelifted 2005 Audi A4 in both body styles. I will keep you posted on my findings on Saturday!

Marc's hunch was confirmed today; Busch showed samples of the new Audi A4 in both sedan and kombi form. Pictures from Ray Kippig are up at the 1/87 Vehicle Club website ( www.1-87vehicles.org).

And finally, any clue about future releases?

The A4 and A4 Avant were finished models or a pre-serie? Albert, They appeared to be complete and ready for shipment to Audi - beautiful models, by the way. Colours on display were metallic silver, metallic red (sedan), red, and black (wagon). There might be more, though. The 2005 A4 will be available from November on, so I assume the model will be, as well. Everyone was quite busy, so I didn't ask about release dates. I did not see a Landcruiser; but then, I did not find the GMC "fishbowl" either - and that one certainly was on display! Marc S. (without a copper Smart)

According to Busch, the first A4 models have already been shipped to Audi for special events (I assume these will be used at the Paris show). Regular shipments to Audi dealers have not yet been scheduled, but I would assume they would come shortly after the Paris rollout.
Also, Busch cannot put up the high-quality photos of the models yet, due to restrictions imposed by Audi.
I will stay in touch with Busch to find out when the new models will be available.
