These are the new Land Rover Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport made by High Speed. Almost all the parts have been represented but unfortunately not detailed. So, in some days I will show you their new image.

I have been able to disassemble the Discovery but unfortunately the glazing was joined to the body with rivets. So I have had to mask them to make easy my work. The Range Rover has two rivets in the chasis and I have prefered not to remove them. This car has the wheels covered with masking tape because I have also varnished it. The work I have done is basically: Paint all the black parts and the background of the head lamps. Now I have to correct some small details and they will be ready.

They look a LOT better already! I like the colors that HS had chosen for these models, especially the Range Sport. When I first saw pictures of these new HS models, I had the feeling they were not quite of the same quality as earlier releases... but looking at them now with the black highlights painted, my faith has been restored, the basics of these models are OK, they just badly need some detailling. Beautiful job sofar, looking forward to seeing the end results!

You can always drill out the rivets in the glazing. You will have to glue it all back together again once you're done, but it's worth it just to be able to remove the thick paint used by High Speed.
Also, I can't wait to see the finished results.

Very nice! Where can I get some?! I would like to see a load of them on a car transporter model that I have planned, so it will look just like the real ones I moved around in my vehicle management job.

Dear Alan: These are avaliable at Wal Mart. Nick K Hmm. The only trouble is, I live in the UK, and the store chain that's owned by Wal-mart over here - Asda - is not likely to have anything like those on the shelves! I suppose it's still worth having a look though.......!

Don't fret, Walmarts don't all have them either. Maybe, since they are made in China, stores out west get them much quicker?

Maybe so. The trouble is whenever I look for models in stores, they seem to be flooded with 1/72 scale items instead. I blame all the OO railway modellers for that!
