Dear Sirs:
The same way Matchbox is a very known brand,Wiking kept itself at the 1/87 world for more than 50 years now. Comments on the brand, listings and how faithfully the cars were reproduced will be a good discussion. Also, what they should do next?

Suggestions for Wiking: 1. Better wheels and tires, definitely. 2. New models in the "Classic" line. 3. It would be nice to see more of Wiking's old models re-released in true 1/87 scale with new tooling.

We can all appreciate what Wiking has been for what it contributed to the scale early on. Many of us acquired Wiking pieces at a young age and it was our first taste of what fine small scale modelling could be. It is perhaps that initial introduction that makes me hold a certain fondness for them. They still, IMO, produce a very nice model and although they have previously mentioned drawbacks, many of the newer pieces such as the Volvo PV544 are real masterpieces (OK I know it's been 2 years for the Volvo but it is neat). I also believe that they do endeavor to introduce unusual and otherwise hard to find quality 1-87 pieces such as their farm implement line and the VW Touareg & boat (specifically the boat). Yes Bill, let's please see some more of the old models with new tooling but I think we can all agree that Wiking is still a giant in our scale.

Wiking has certainly managed to find the niche (the Hako streetsweeper, the Neuson dumper and the lawnmower to name a few) and I think that we can only praise them for releasing these models. On the other hand I also think they went over the top releaseing of all those tractors and farm implements in a relatively short period. Apparently collectors/modelrailroaders were really waiting for these models (they wouldn't have been made otherwise) but it would have been nice to see some contemporary passenger cars too.

Dear Sirs:
Another reason to praise Wiking was their realism. Their Mercedes 450 sedan had the pointed star above the grille, and that in the 1970's; their Bussing Senator has a superb undercarriage detail around its rear engine and the spoked wheels make it very realistic;I did not care by the latter covered wheels - and this is a 1970's version. Finally, the Chevy truck -from the 1950's - also gets lots of details, suspension being one of them. No matter how aged their vehicles are,the details will be there.

I agree with previous entries. Wikings have had their shortcomings, and it took them a very long time to respond to the improvements introduced by other manufacturers (read: Herpa). But they never haste, and the results have been superb. And thank god they finally started making proper wheels, they make such a difference to the appearance of a model. They really owe it to us to offer retrofit, correct wheels and rims for all of their old models. I would imagine that a set of proper rims for old Wikings would sell quite well, and would also make it easier to reissue updated old models. but wiking does embody H0 cars. As a child I referred to all H0 scale cars as "Wikings", and I am certain that I am not alone.

Being as Wiking owns the Roskopf dies, I too would like to see some of the older models redone. ;D Retooling would be nice, but I will settle for the old tooling just to get something on the market.

Dear Sirs:
Wiking also molded a good portion of vehicles that are not an everyday sight such as the Volkswagen K70,Lloyd,Borgward sedan and the only model -in this scale - of a four door DKW sedan. The list goes on and will be interesting to see some of these remolded.
