I don't think the other thread is closed ... strange.
Great to see progress on the model Olivier! Already got an idea for the wheels?

Congratulations!
I must say I admire your pluck, after reading Asterix I knew you Bretons are pretty stubborn, so I never really worried...
The wheels on the real thing are different sizes, arent they? Not so much that one cannot ignore it, though.
The wheels look a little like the hubcaps I have seen on some European trucks, but I dont know if anything suitable might be available in 1:87?

Thanks Skunk and Christian for your words, but they had the opposite effect on me for quite a few days... I've had the BIG head... Now I'm getting better, and back to the stable to find out I am not that good and I struggle a lot to finish. So phone call to my dad, who told me (one more time): "Bad workers always have bad tools." I checked my stuff, and I concluded he is right, so field trip to the art shop next to the University. (By the way, I found some cheap polyurethane copies of Wiking models for students in Architecture.) And I got this: www.estetika.ch/pg000625.htm (Mine is a Philips, identical shape, black and really cool) Then many many new tools, and to conclude, but it's for my wife's birthday, a digital camera with 5.1 mega pixels. The good point with such a good (and expensive) camera is you can take good photos (and movies). Yes, I confirm. The bad point is you can see the bad points of your model... Yes, I confirm too. So, no photos until further notice... (For info, it's a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 Digital Still Camera, 5.1 Megapixels) To be continued...

Wow, those are some nice tools.
I myself spent $3.95 on some files today, and thought that I did good...
I have a Rietze Audi 100 (the one that came on the market in 1992, I believe), which has fairly suitable rims for an XJ220. They may be a bit on the small side, but inside of a bigger tire they could be quite nice.

I was unable to find the pic of your XJ220 (probably because this is an old thread). I was wondering if your XJ220 was based on the v12 prototype or the V6 turbo production model? I found a cheap plasitic version of the v12 car (it was much longer than the v6 version that happened to scale out to 1/87). Needed a bit of work, but it turned out okay. I think I featured it on one of the older issues of the 1/87 Vehicle Club's newsletter.

Wayne,
Olivier based his conversion on the New Ray toy, which I think is the model you got, too.
