Where could one find palm trees in H0? Or other tropical plants?
I assume that there must be some stuff for 1:72 scale military modellers, since they often do pacific theatre dioramas. Maybe someone knows of a site with tips for creating your own tropical greenery?

Well, I followed my own advice (duh) and found a bunch of stuff on eBay. Then I bought a bunch of it. Now I am just going to sit on these items for the next five years or so, then I'll start my dio.

There are a number of cottage industries that make palm trees. Oaky Doaky is one. If you want to make your own: www.zeitcom.com/majgen/22palmsc.htmlA palm trunk can be made out of a pipe cleaner soaked in deluted white glue and rubbed the wrong way.

Ah, thanks a lot! Excellent advice, I especially like using dyed feathers to make the fronds.
I also realized that various companies make photo-etched foliage for larger scales which could be easily used for making big-leafed tropical plants in 1:87.
That palm tree looks perfect next to the station wagon.

Here is another website I found that sells both kits for complete palm trees and just the fronds in various sizes. Not cheap. www.hartofthesouth.com

Wow, good stuff. But if one is spending weeks and hundreds of dollars building a diorama, then saving ten bucks by buying crummy plastic palm trees doesn't make much sense.

Jerry said he got most of his palm trees at the Original Whistle Stop in Pasadena. When we were there the other day I took a couple of photos so you could see the product and brand names. I looked up the websites: www.mtec1.com/ (unable to open) www.grandcentralgems.com/
